Spenny fans seem to rate him & seems he wanted to come here too so a good signing for me-his Dad being Celtic GK legend Jonathan Gould & his grandad Bobby Gould shows he comes from good footballing stock too. As a complete side point he is just about the most well spoken Alty player I’ve ever heard interviewed. Welcome to Alty Matt.

That made me double check as it seemed like quite a drop. Actually, he has joined Atherton Collieries, so he has only dropped one division fron last season. However, he is at a new club and hence the new signing.

I only asked the question as on the Alty files he's shown as being in the squad, signing in July

Glad about that, Phil and Neil were on the case as I suggested earlier. Wonder how many more we will sign now, think maybe 2-3. Thanks to Elliott for his help very late in the season, best of luck for your future.

Very good at coming out and the stature you expect a keeper to be. Very agile.
Thompson should be number 1 on last season's improvement but great competition which TT thrives off.

He had some self promotion highlights on his own twitter (@mattgkgould) in May I think - very, very good goalkeeper, close shout for who takes the no1 shirt next season I imagine.
