Real shame that. One of the most enjoyable days out I've had watching Alty

Hope the club take the opportunity to other the phoenix club a friendly.

Awful shame. I can't help but think the whole Welsh league set up has been detrimental to teams like Rhyl and Bangor.

There's an argument for that but I don't think that's the key issue with either club. Bangor were doing fine until they sold to the Vaughans. Rhyl were mostly harmed by the decision to condense the league to 12 teams, as well as their problems with the ground owners.

If they start a new club it would be a great day out for a friendly.

(I especially like the shops that sell the - errm - suggestively shaped rock!)

My mind boggles, but they seem very confident a phoenix club will be formed. However, given the problems the old club had with the ground's owners, I am not sure where they would play. A groundshare with Prestatyn Town seems the most obvious, but that is just me speculating. However, you might have to go out of your way to get your rock. :D

We have played them a lot of times in the Cheshire County League (and now we miss Royton Mike who would have been able to quote the total record between the clubs). The local paper (since lost, unfortunately) from when my parents got married in 1962 had a report from the FA Cup 4th Qualifying Round when we lost 3-2 at home to Rhyl in front of 5800, no less.

The fans have voted that the new club be called CPD Y Rhyl 1879. I haven't seen anything to say where or in which they league they will be playing.

They will probably not return as a strong team, but it would still be nice to have a friendly there

The new club will be playing at Belle Vue, Rhyl, and have hopes of buying the ground.
