Title: BPA - Match Thread
Post by: Mrs Warbouys on January 23, 2020, 08:31:43 AM
Always slightly cautious of playing teams at the bottom, but hopefully we can get back to winning ways. There’s not much room
for error from now In our quest to get in the mix.

Alty 1/6
Draw 6/1
BPA 10/1

Tickets for the game are available here

BPA are in a desperate position.

Don't know how Lundstram perforfmed on Saturday but if Richman or Williams dont start there's a massive load on his shoulders.

I know we lost at their gaff but I can't see my unbeaten (in 90 mins) record going.

Alty 2-0 BPA. Johnson, Hulme

Players morally beholden to perform far better than the dross they served up at BPA.

Given up on predictions after last weekend.

Hoping for a win and a clean sheet.

Need a strong performance and a good win to revive our play off campaign. We need to be patient, and have confidence that our class and ability will be the difference over 90 minutes.  This is the team to do it against-  thought take it for granted that Nicky Clee will play a blinder - he seems to get a bit of stick from some of our fans these days, I hope it is all good natured banter because he really was one of the best and most loyal players we have had at Moss Lane in the last 25 years - and a joy to watch on his day - not today, hopefully.

I'm going for 3 1 t Alty - Jordan Hulme 2, Willo 1 (!) - Clee to score from a free kick near the right corner flag.  Attendance  1186

Come on Alty!!

Some of the above won't happen

Today's match.

1. vegan pie very good. please sell them at the chequers end as well. i have never had to walk so far just to buy a pie.
2. john who?
3. craig mahon very quick and bags of determination.
4. toby mallarkey out on the wing an interesting development that worked well if only at that stage of the match against that oppostion.
5. that opposition made to look probably better than they really are by a not quite settled alty team.
6. awful news announced at the end about jordan sinnott. best regards to his family.

It's still horrible news but at least it appears that reports of Jordan Sinnott's death have been premature:

Terrible news about Sinnott.

3 points is 3 points but I am concerned.

We need some pace. I don't want to pipe on about JJ but he dragged us forward 70 yards.

We need some solid signings.

I think Mahon will be decent. Not comparing the standard but plays like Bernardo Silva. Wall isn't good enough.

I don't want to start any speculation but Hulme doesn't look happy. I heard JJ is on a £1000. You can't turn that down at this level.

You heard something is the same as not knowing at all. Let's stop speculating and rumour-mongering and stick to things we actually know.

Jordan did well today. Lovely cross for the first goal. I thought the players took their foot off the gas in the second half possibly with Tuesday in mind.

Not sure what to make of todays game. Our first early goal (thankful for it) may have had the effect of dampening the game?  What I wanted to say was that I have seen worse teams at Alty this season but we were below par tbh and a bit out of sorts. Seems strange that both BPA and Blyth were amongst last years for runners all season.  God knows what would have happened if they would have gone up. SBL

Standard win, scoring so early made it a much easier afternoon. Not a game that will live long in the memory.

Mahon will start Tuesday and i was impressed with Lundstram.

Peers was dreadful but will probably start Tuesday

It was a forgettable game and the atmosphere was completely flat throughout.
We didn't play well, though I too thought Lundstram looks a very decent player. BPA might as well not have bothered and their fans are a credit to them
Neither of the wingers we started with are anywhere near Conference North play off standard. We desperately need forward reinforcements and I am praying the management are on to it.

I thought BPA put in a very gutsy performance. Maybe we were a bit off song and let them have more of the game. They had some good chances.

Routine win but an important one none the less. Jordan Hulme can't buy a goal at the moment - he is playing superbly week in week out and is consistently a class apart - probably got more assists this season than anyone else - but the ball isn't rolling for him chances wise.  When he does get one come his way he will probably break the back of the net.

Might have been underwhelming, but professional display, they played within themselves and hopefully will have the legs to go for 3 points on Tuesday.

Noticed Nicky Clee came off at half time - wonder if he was told about Jordan Sinnott and didn't want to play on - which would be understandable because he will have known him pretty well from their time here.

I think Nicky didn't come out because of that reason.
