Title: Leamington match thread
Post by: One Foot in the Grave on January 02, 2020, 09:36:01 AM
Momentum is so important in football. We haven't always been brilliant over the holiday season, but we've come out of it with 9 points and two clean sheets.

Last time, we produced the poorest 45 minutes of our season in the first half at the New Windmill, and never looked like recovering from three goals down.

Hopefully we'll be sickness-free by Saturday, and can end the Brakes' five game unbeaten home run. I take us to battle our way to three more points.

Always a tough place to go, in the depths of winter especially, hope the weather is a bit better then last season.

Normally for me after such a busy run of games this would be in the ‘take a point territory’ but if we are going to get into the play offs then we really need to up our game away from home and start beating sides who will probably end the season below us, such as Lem. The performance at Curzon on Boxing Day where we dominated the whole game should encourage us.

Always a decent day out Lem too, good craic and ales in their bar and a few decent pubs in the town centre such as The Cricketers and the Woodland Tavern.

Anyone going by train to Leamington remember the cheapest way to do it is buying a return to stoke on Trent or Crewe  from here and buying a West Midlands’s day ranger from any manned station in the country. The West Midlands day ranger covers you from stoke on Trent or Crewe stations as far down as Leamington and is 27 quid for an adult

See their forward, Josh Marsh has agreed a deal with a EFL club. Should rule him out today then

Grey to stay.

Great result. Sounded more dangerous when Peers came on.

Looking forward to Tuesday.

Rather like Boxing Day, we should have won by a bigger margin. Leamington fans I spoke to were very complimentary. They certainly missed Marsh, who signed for Forest Green yesterday for £25K. He'd scored 24 of their 51 goals in all competitions this season. Beautifully worked goal, and our third clean sheet from four games.

Onwards and upwards, a playoff spot looks increasingly within our grasp.

We lost our internet connection around 3.30pm, SBL.
We have experienced internet connection problems at Leamington previously (reception is generally very poor) & it took us until half-time to rectify the issue.

We were back on for the whole of the second half & happily did not experience any further issues.

Vanarama's highlights don't work on an Android phone.

Leamington's own highlights should be available on YouTube tomorrow.

When I see highlights like this, which I find very difficult to watch, it just shows how very, very good Alty TV is. On the run up to the goal there was a lovely weighted header away from goal by an Alty player to the feet of an Alty player. Can anyone tell me who took part in that move? Good stuff.

Leamington's official highlights (16 minutes) are now up on YouTube. Worth picking up for the goal alone. I didn't appreciate on the day, from the opposite side of the pitch, how good Peers' ball to Densmore was. Densmore's cross - as with so many he plays - practically begs to put away, and Hancock's finish is top drawer.
