Title: BP(A) - MATCH THREAD
Post by: Mrs Warbouys on December 05, 2019, 06:19:57 PM
BP(A) 11/4
DRAW 13/5
ALTY 10/11

Nicholas Clee has signed for BP(A) this evening in time to face his old club this Saturday. Hope the lads are still beaming with pride and ready to go. A promotion/ FA Troohy double still well within their grasp. No one in this league should hold any fear for the boys after the recent weeks, beating york twice at BC and running such a massive club so close last week.Up the f**king Reds

Unthinkable not to be coming away with all 3 points.

Having said there can be know FA cup hangover, a brisk start is a must.

I think the team deserve a big turnout after the Portsmouth game so I'll make the trip too.

Sounded very poor and the kit will never be the only reason but can't wait for this grey kit to f*ck off. Our stats are shocking in it.....1 win I think...

Our away form in the league to date this season remains both perplexingly and alarmingly woeful.

Played: 9.

Won: 0.

Drawn: 4.

Lost: 5.

Goals scored: 6.

Goals conceded: 17.

Points accumulated: 4 (out of a possible 27).

Got to give BPA lots of credit. They weren't pretty but defended like Trojans and were perhaps the most organised team we've played this season. It looks like we have temporarily lost our shooting boots and the play offs are looking a long way away.

It was 423 according to BPA twitter.

Very predictable after the Lord Mayors show. Back to Yorkshire and another cup game next Saturday. I just hope the weather is ok over the rest of December, we really need a run of regular league games to get the league season properly moving.

In all honesty, though I went to a very frustrating game yesterday, our performance did not surprise me. Not only were we bad after Colchester a few years back, but I seem to remember the 70's/80's team used to suffer defeats after playing in big FA Cup games. The match against Portsmouth was draining both physically and emotionally, and to me there is often a knock-on effect. In all honesty I think Bradford had a game plan which they executed well to nullify our attack. The signing of Nicky Clee and Tom Clare have probrably helped immensely,  and their new manager/coach have organised them better. Do not think much of their keeper though. Showed signs of the old Macclesfield keeper, can't remember his name. Deliberate winding up of the fans after they scored the second with over-excuberent celebrations. Steward in the 2nd half was not much better, very obnoxious and provocative, everything a steward should not be. Led to cross words between fans and steward, he just made the situation unnecessarily worse.

Should have been a good day out, but unfortunately it wasn't. Lets hope it is a temporary glitch.

It would be interesting to look at the overall stats for wearing/not wearing that kit.

The grey kit will cost us a playoff place. I was there on Saturday and it was hard to see our players. York have won 1 game in their last 7 I think our grey kit had little to do with our win there

We were poor, and would have been in the red and white. However please do drop the grey kit.

I don't think it had anything to do with our win either, just as I don't think it has anywhere near as much to do with our losses as people make out.

Do I like the kit? Not particularly, but it's borderline embarrassing to put bad performances down to a kit. We would have lost in purple, because we were crap.

We were poor agreed but if you can’t see players in a grey kit it’s not embarrassing to blame the performance on the kit. I think the Portsmouth game had a part to play too by the way

We could have been dressed in anything you like . It would have made no difference whatsoever . I don't like the kit either but it has no impact on an inability to even have a shot on or off target for a whole half

In this kit we've had a lot of shocking performances. The inability to pass to each other, create chances etc.

Decent players, especially at this level will play out of the corner of their eye. This kit is not very visible, the players have even commented that themselves.

It is not a coincidence how well we perform in red and white or even the yellow kit.

As most second halfs will now play under floodlights it will impact us. Not only visibility of the poor kit, the players now have a poor psychological association to it.

As I keep saying it is not just down to the kit but for me it 100% has an impact on our passing etc.

This willl result in misplaced passes and reduced number of chances which we are seeing time after time in it. The stats speak for themselves.

If our fans struggle to see our players in the kit, so will the players.

Remember, gray kits have a history and I am sure it is more than the psychological nature of the colour that teams who wear red are the most successful.

How was the referees performance?

Reasonable in my opinion and better than some this season.

He booked Hancock for what I thought was a trivial foul. He failed to get a grip of blatant time wasting from 15 mins in - not helped by the large expanse of running track and open space around the ground. He gave us a free kick in the first half in a dangerous position, whereas it looked like a great tackle to me. All in all I had no real complaints with him or his assistants....my frustrations were our lack of chances second half
