Not sure that's defo the case as the Sunday highlights programme would only have brought in 12.5k ? I would expect the sat 3pm kick off time means the crowd will be up by a fair bit.

Portsmouth have not advised if tickets will or will not be available on the day. They will want fans to purchase tickets before the day of the game, however may announce at some point that it is possible to purchase tickets on the day of the game.

https://www.portsmouthfc.co.uk/news/2019/november/altrincham-h-ticket-information/

If you can't buy tickets on the day, there will be an announcement by Portsmouth FC at some point.

The Saturday ko time is an absolute godsend to me, as it means my family can all attend. I think Timperley The Best is right, Saturday game will add a significant number to the gate, which will obviously be good for the club.

Looks like they have smart cards for season tickets and they load cup tickets onto those for home fans. Probably not worth the investment in e-tickets for away fans.

Delighted my assumption about this being a Sunday was wrong.

I’m guessing today we’ve already sold a few hundred, we’d have taken 500 plus to York at 3pm on a Saturday so reckon we should come close to selling out for this one. London Alty got our job lot of tickets at the game today. Going to be an amazing day out for the fans and I actually wouldn’t write the game off either, we are looking excellent at the moment. The closest thing we’ve had since Spurs away in 1995 and I still remember that game and day out, getting the coach down from Timperley Village, had the match poster on my bedroom wall for months afterwards. Parky & Sorvs should be really proud when the team run out and see 1000 of us in the away end.

Would be interested to see how many tickets were sold today. Looked to be a constant queue for tickets before the game and I overheard plenty of people that I wouldn’t consider as regular away travellers talking about their plans. Not sure we’ll sell out 980 tickets - it’s only the 2nd round after all, but we’ll give it a good go.

3pm Saturday gives me a chance also. Great post Sarf London.. Pre Southport it looked like it could be a long season, now it’s looking f**king great again. Someone thank Phil Parkinson for me, the man has brought good times back for us. Up the reds.

Hi, First Post I'm a Portsmouth Season Ticket Holder. All our ticketing is electronic in one way or the other.
Fratton Parks Capacity is just over 19,000 of which for league games there are 14,500 season ticket holders who have smart cards.
Other tickets are mostly issued by Ticketmaster who issue a print at home/ mobile barcode which is read by the automatic turnstiles.
Away tickets are generally sold by the visiting club as they receive commission on the ticket sales under EFL regs. and it allows them to vet which people can buy tickets. At Pompey for instance if you are a home season ticket holder you can also be an away season ticket holder where you guarantee to buy an away ticket for every match and get first chance where the allocation is small.

I would imagine that proof of age is needed at the point of using the ticket, not at the point of buying it, as the person buying a ticket isn't necessarily the person who is going to use it.

I'm sure there will have discussions between the clubs prior to the decision but we get our highest attendances on Saturday afternoon so its likely that will to your advantage.
We also have home games against Northampton on Tuesday night in the leasing.com trophy and the following Saturday against Peterborough in the league. Its not just about the players but the stadium resources for 3 home games in 7 days.
Lets face it people only have so much money for Football in the run up to Christmas.

If the away turnstiles are the same as the home ones then they have barcode readers which read the ticket and open the turnstile. There is an indicator light on the inside monitored by stewards . Concession tickets trigger a different light so the stewards know if it is a full or concession ticket.
I think you would only be challenged if you don't appear to fit any of the concession criteria.

Sellers in the street outside, usually one in the burger van lay-by about 100 yards off the bridge at Fratton Station but loads along the route to the ground. £3 usually a good read.

Big Ban Vader, Waterloo to Fratton seem unaffected. It’s the other route to Portsmouth that appears to have the replacement buses.can check on southern rail website but also if you look at buying tickets from Waterloo to Fratton on Trainline.com there’s no mention of any disruption. However, for comparison if you try waterloo to portsmouth you will see it mentions a bus replacement. I’m booked on the 11.09 Waterloo to Fratton.

Waterloo to Portsmouth (Fratton) is closed between Guildford and Petersfield with a replacement bus running between the two. Some trains are diverted via Eastleigh and Fareham therefore not requiring the bus stage but the diverted route takes about 25 mins longer than the usual direct service. The diverted route should still be quicker than the one with the bus in the middle assuming timings and tickets allow.

However, for comparison if you try waterloo to portsmouth you will see it mentions a bus replacement. I’m booked on the 11.09 Waterloo to Fratton.

Basically Fratton normally has three different routes to/from London as follows:

a) Southwestern railway via Guildford to Waterloo (this is known as the Portsmouth Direct Line)
This is normally the fastest service and has 3 trains per hour with varying stops and times.
On the date of the Alty match this line is closed with a bus replacement between Guildford and Petersfield.

b) Southwestern railway via Eastleigh and Basingstoke to Waterloo. (this is known as the South Western Mainline)
This is basically fast to Woking then a stopping service via Basingstoke, Winchester and turns off the mainline at Eastleigh to serve a Branch to Portsmouth.
This line generally only has one train per hour. Journeys are around 30 minutes slower.
On the day of the Alty match this line is open throughout.

c) Southern Railway via Chichester and Gatwick  Airport to Victoria. (this is known as the Arun Valley Line).
This line generally only has one direct train per hour and is also around 30 minutes slower but usually has cheaper tickets. Its also good if your journey beyond London is by National Express Coach (as the coach station is about a block away from the railway station).
On the day of the Alty match this line is closed with a bus replacement between Havant and Barnham.

So basically that day there are direct trains between Fratton and London but its a matter of making sure that you are on a train that goes via Basingstoke and Eastleigh and that you allow enough time for your journey and take account of the fact it is likely to be a reduced frequency.

Understand that we have now sold over 500 tickets for Saturday, which is incredible.   If memory serves me correctly, that is on a par with how many we took to Sheffield United, SC**thorpe, Blackpool (twice) and Burnley back in the day.  Difference is obviously they were all pretty close, and Portsmouth is as far as we can go without crossing the channel!  Coupled with the 1300 we took to Chorley and the 4600 plus against Guiseley in the pay off final in 2014, this just shows the potential of the club and also how solid our core support base is, despite the difficulties of recent years.

I honestly believe that our potential support base if we have sustained success is way in excess of what we averaged in the late 70s and early 80s.  Note that when Pompey played Macc in the FA Cup 1st round in 2015 the attendance was 9834, of which - if memory serves me correctly - around 400 were travelling fans, who had had free coaches laid on.  Suffice to say this suggests that we are potentially a far, far bigger club than Macc will ever be, despite having been in the doldrums relatively speaking for much of the last 25 years that they have been a 'success'  ;D

Get your friends and family to get tickets and get down to Pompey on Saturday for what will be a legendary Alty day out whatever the result - it beats Christmas shopping!! Coaches are subsidised and match tickets no more than for a conference north match so lets really push the match on social media and around the town over the next few days, and make sure the players come out to a huge roar from the away end - so excited about this one - feel like I'm 14 all over again

Read somewhere that League 1 clubs struggle to get 300 to Pompey so this
Is a magnificent achievement if we can get another 100 tickets sold at get to the 650 mark that would be amazing of course this is probably our cup final but this competition has produced some big shocks in the pass with Alty causing 17 of them my excitement is building cannot wait.

We've got our tickets, 5 going, of which 2 are not regulars until this season, I am slowly spreading and growing the Alty Army.

How many did we take to Colchester? Its a long way so to exceed 500 is a fantastic achievement in my eyes.

Really looking forward to the game, anything can happen in a cup game. Just believe...

It was pretty much bang on 400 at Colchester IIRC. So at least 150 more then that I hope. Granted you can’t really compare Colchester and Portsmouth, Pompey away a much much bigger day out than Colchester would ever be.

Yep, early start for me on Saturday morning for the drive up to Dublin airport. I missed the Colchester outing, but wasn't going to miss this (even with a glass back).

Same here. Family up at 3am for long drive to Pompey - wife and daughter meeting up with relatives in the morning while my son and I attend the game before staying over. Can't wait.

On the coach this weekend, I am so so looking forward to this. Whatever the result, so long as the lads give a good account of themselves I will be happy win or lose. My biggest hope is that we give Pompey a surprise, you never know!!

Get my Spam Cheese topped rolls made on Friday night, and the chicken legs packed. No hard boiled eggs as promised!

Looking forward to great day out. Looking forward to visiting Pompey too. Nice large ground with good atmosphere from both home and away fans. If we win I fully expect to lose my voice!

7.38am from Leeds to Kings Cross for me on Saturday morning, meeting a fellow Robin who will be known to some on this forum and beyond at 9.55am at Kings Cross, then was looking to get 11.09am from Waterloo to Portsmouth, though from other posts not sure if this is running.

I bet I am not the only Alty fan on the Leeds train - there are a fair few of us live in Yorkshire.  I have been in Leeds since 1990 but still Alty to my boots and always will be.

I’m booked on the 11.09 Waterloo to Fratton. Not seen anything that suggests it’s not running

The 11.09 ex Waterloo is the standard Portsmouth via Basingstoke stopping service which is unaffected by the works, it takes nearly 2 hours! to Fratton. Had a brief look at the timetable at Fratton Station last night and there is also a diverted fast service which leaves Waterloo at XX.45.

Rotherham last night bought 204 fans for the league 1 clash so its looking like West of the Pennines is definitely the better side for football supporters.
Attendance is traditionally announced at around 75 mins at Fratton Park, separate figure for the visiting club first.

Glad it is the overseas game.  Will be watching it live here in the US.
