Title: Chester match thread
Post by: oneedham on September 16, 2019, 05:54:43 PM
                  Thompson

Dens    Jones     Hannigan      Hampson

                       Moult

JJ                  Richman              Hemmings

                       Hancock

                       Hulme

Saturday is so important. We say it every year but a run in the FA Cup would be massive for us.

I am assuming Ceesay will still be injured.

Do qualifiers make someone cup tied? Hoping it won't stop Hemmings from playing.

Whether match fit or not Dens deserves a chance over White. We need to play our full backs further up and have our wingers going on the outside.

They play in blue so I am hoping to see us in red and white.

Are Fylde going to allow Hemmings to play ?

1. Short answer - yes. However, the Hemmings loan deal is till the beginning of January so unless Fylde expect to reach Round 3 it would seem unlikely that they would object to him playing in an FA Cup game. The same is true of the Ceesay deal as I understand it but I also assume that's academic at the moment due to his hamstring.
2. To me there's no logical reason why we shouldn't wear red & white unless the referee objects to both sides appearing in vertically striped shirts, but logic is not a given.

Cheers for explaining my friend.

Re. The discussion about colours - we played in the grey away kit in the league game in August.

Yet last year, as most others, we’ve worn our home shirt

Re. The discussion about colours - we played in the grey away kit in the league game in August.

Home shirt worn last year and we played very well that day. There is no reason why we can't wear the red and white. Certainly better than grey for an FA Cup game. The players might actually see each other and complete a couple of passes  :D

Were excellent at Chester early season (in grey) and should have won. Similar performance should do the trick.

The grey kit just looks horrible. And I don't know why the kits always look like they don't fit properly. Don't we have them in the correct sizes?

Chester 1 Alty 3

Johnson (pen)
White
Moult

Hulme & Harrop yellow cards

Massive game, Parky needs a reaction and a consistent one after that. Main thing players turn up and want it, regardless of which kit they use.

Just can't see it unfortunately, prove me wrong lads. Chester are top 3 bound this season.

Chester 3-0 Altrincham

Chester 4-1 Altrincham

First time since season of shame I'm going expecting to get bear, and beat heavily.

There's no reason we should lose other than lack of confidence. We came within a whisker of doing them at their place for a second successive season only a month ago. We also have a fairly decent record against this lot. For what it's worth, I'm going for another 1 1 draw.

Now we’ve had three days to process Saturdays sh*t show. We must remember Saturday is the FA Cup, it’s historically our competition. It’s an away game up the road so let’s be having you. How many of the 1300 at Chorley are coming along on Saturday. Dust yourselves now and let’s get there in large numbers, they’ll need us behind them from the off.

Count me out. I'm not risking getting as angry again as I was on Saturday, and I can't see us getting anything. Yes, we drew there early doors, but their star striker wasn't playing - and advertised his well-being with a hat trick at Telford last week.

If by a miracle and we make it to first round. With no bury there must be a bye in that round for some one

I doubt there'll be a bye - even the FA aren't that dumb. They'll surely have rejigged it by that stage, probably in the next qualifying round.

You can’t rejig the number of teams in the competition once it started. They would have to find a extra team from somewhere and you can only do that by not knocking one out when they are scheduled to go ie a bye or two teams enter one round later than planned

Let's get at their full backs and have them thinking about us and the not the other way around.

Need to be direct and confident in our play. Need players to take responsibility and step up. This is a huge game.

Any news on whether Hemmings can play or Ceesay's injury?

Let's get a load of us behind the goal.

Certainly judging by the commentary - and us exiles on the RR website all agreed - that was a much better performance from the lads and could have won that.

Well done on a much improved performance!

Having been to the game, I can safely say that we absolutely gubbed them. I actually feel cheated that we didn't win! How can Fylde not want Ash? Jake was sublime. That was like watching Alty again.

Well. After a dire opening two. The best performance I've seen fro us since Chorley.

We passed it. We wanted the ball and we showed up.

It was a poor start, but we got better and better as the game went on, with Chester trying to waste time to force a replay towards the end.

I feel very confident about that replay now, which I certainly didn't about the original game, so well done to the team. Hopefully, there won't be so much injury time in the replay, and Chester might even choose to name a substitute goalkeeper rather than delay the game while they fix up Griffiths.

Thoroughly enjoyed myself today at the game, good result and spirit and unlucky not to win the game. Ref I assume did not see the handball, but we all did. Blatant that was, but cleverly disguised by the player who was shielding the ref's view. I feel the liner should have spotted it though.

Came back from 1-0 down to draw a game against odd circumstances. Not sure what the reffing rule is for players off the pitch for so long. All in all deserved the draw, lets see what happens at our place. Enjoyable day today, happy with both result and performance. Well done to the lads, played with heart today and we well outsang the Chester fans.

Lovely goal for us off those highlights but maybe Alty TV could give Chester a few pointers about recording match footage. Not a patch on ours.

The ref saw it he said it hit his chest. The Assistant Ref couldn't have given it from where he was positioned. In my opinion the ref bottled the decision.

The penalty was a very close call. I can understand him not giving it if he wasn't 100% sure. I actually thought the officials were the best I've seen this season.

We'd have missed it anyway.
