Title: Leamington Match Thread
Post by: robininstockport on September 05, 2019, 09:53:26 AM
Fully expect Ceesay and Hancock to start.

No idea on RB, DCM or LW.

Looking forward to it as I've seen us lose yet

                                  TT

Dens       Hannigan     Jones      Hampson

                                Moult

JJ/Hemmings      Williams         Ceesay

                                Hancock

                                Hulme

Moult is a risk but he needs minutes and we are at home.

Does Richman start his one match ban straight away?

Isn't Hannigan serving his last suspension game? Farsley, Southport and Leamington.

No he missed Boston and should be back. We need him.

Thought he missed Boston because he was concussed. Doesn’t the ban start after a Monday match?

The FA website says that Hannigan is still suspended for the Leamington game and Richman will miss Kidderminster.

Oh that isn't great.

Toby with Jones then.

Other debate is whether it will be Richman or Williams. Richman was the better of the two on Tuesday.

For future reference - as I understand it, at this level suspensions kick in on the seventh day after the offence.
As regards team for Saturday - as I wasn't at Southport I'm not going to be in any way dogmatic, but previous evidence would suggest that Jake Moult may not yet be ready for two full games in a week. As to the right-back, I suspect White still offers more options, particularly going forward, than Densmore. Midfield - I have to admit to a bias in favour of Richman over Williams, who rarely convinced me last season that he did much more than run in ever-decreasing circles. Attack-wise I don't know which of Hancock or Hemmings should wear no. 10 but if Ceesay is available I would have thought he should start on the left wing.
On another point - does anyone know if we have another goalkeeper registered with the League in case anything should happen to Thompson?

Whilst Andy White is somewhat below par at the moment, I'm sorry to say that anybody who'd pick Sean Densmore ahead of him clearly didn't see his abject display at Boston.

I didn't but one bad game compared to White's poor form all season. We have missed Hanngain for 3 games and bad injury because of his shocking pass.

You can't hit the pitch running without game time. I would give Dens 5 or 6 games and see how he does. At the end of last season Dens was quality and a threat going forward.

White, currently, is as poor as when he joined us and doesn't deserve to start. He looked as if he couldn't be bothered playing on Tuesday. It was a shocking performance. His distribution was shocking, he was yards off his man when they attacked and looked as if he had never played football.

Dens won't be match fit but he deserves a chance over a few games.

That was a very good performance.

We had our full backs high up the pitch, that is our strength and should be played against every team. Richman had a blinder when he came on and White did well at left back.

Moult protected the defence who all played well.

Williams was busy.

Hemmings and Hancock were a different level. Hemmings crossing is what we have been missing.

Even JJ's disturbance was quality when he came on and set up two goals.

Absolutely gutted about Ceesay because he has returned to us in unplayable form. Looks like Hamstring tear and not pull so could be 6 to 8 weeks. He was flying in that first half.

Buzzing today.

I didn't go today, but from the outside it looks like Josh is quite important to our team!

'Quite' is an understatement.

People thought I was mad over a season ago when I said he is more influential than Poole.

First name on the sheet.

I didn’t go today but a very convincing win AND a clean sheet against a team who had been going very well & who we served up our worst performance against last season. Brilliant. Now looking forward to Kiddy next week and can we finally get a run going.

Gutted for Ceesay, looked a bad one but he was walking unaided and freely in NWS after game.

Started really well and deserved lead. Lost our way  when Ceesay and then Hampson came off. 2nd goal came from nowhere but killed them off. They we dreadful 2nd half.

Can't fault any of our players but got to feel sorry for Malarkey who did nothing wrong but will have to make way for hannigan on Saturday.

Their no 2 was class

5-0 means Leamington were officially rubbish, but you've still got to take your opportunities. Good to see Jordan now in form, a goal for Peers will do him good. Hemmings is magnificent, Hancock is vital to this team clicking. And getting Tuesday in perspective Southport got a draw at York.

Josh was excellent today and we’ve missed him for most of the season thus w. Anyone watched the documentary will see how influential he is to our success.

Glad to hear Ceesay not as bad as it looked.

OverAll a much better performance but still room for improvement.

Jake was much improved today and pleased Thommo got a clean sheet

They did not press us today and were poor apart from a spell when Connor and Yusif had to leave

Ringo was excellent at RB. Hemmings and Hancock also. Great team performance all round.

Ref missed a blatant pen and bizarrely booked Williams for a great tackle

I thought Leamington were distinctly average, but you can only beat what's put in front of you. Considering the two substitutions, and the penalty that was denied (I await Alty TV with great interest !), it was a quality performance. Hemmings was outstanding, Moult looked far more like himself, Hancock gives us so much.

We need to carry that showing forward to Kidderminster next week.

We made them look average due to greatly improved passing.
Leamington did try and press but with Jake and willo playing and Hanks and Ash taking up great positions to receive the ball, that was the difference.
Once we had cut thro them several times they had no choice but to sit back more otherwise we would have scored a bucketload.
Now we must keep up that level of performance, if we do we will be top by xmas.

After my rant after the Southport Game only correct I come on here and praise the boys today
Absolutely superb from start to finish against a Leamington team that had been in good form
Hopefully as Ash Hemmings said in the post match interview this is the kick start we need to get going.
Let's see if we can get a good run going not conceeding was also a morale booster.
Finally I think Leamington had more flags than supporters today.

Ash Hemmings is the best player we’ve had in ages, amazed he doesn’t get a game for Fylde.

I'd suggest Williams was booked for sliding in and making contact with the player whether he got the ball first or not.

I imagine your right however how we were not awarded a penalty in the first half is beyond me and then at 3 up there was a period of play where the ref just seemed to ignore a number of fouls on Alty players . It's the lack of consistency that's frustrating

Anyway that aside a huge win and fantastic performance more of the same please

Much better, front foot performance, and despite 2 clear penalties turned down by poor refereeing, which I thought poor most of the game. I also thought Leamington quite poor, so not to get carried away
Good performances from Hemmings, Hancock, Ritchman, Moult, and I thought Mullarkey had a half descent game, difficult decision for the manager now. Difficult away game coming up, so hopefully a performance next week.

I have a feeling that the ref was trying to play advantage as we retained possession of the ball and were going forward in each case. Damned if he does. damned if he doesn't …
I think the analysis re Williams is right.

"Quite well" is damning the lad with faint praise ! He saved three penalties in the shoot-out !
