Title: Walters, Chadwick and Gabidon
Post by: Steve from Sale on July 22, 2019, 02:30:19 PM
Anybody know on here or from the club what may happen with the above, they all looked good on Saturday. Wondered if they will be signed or if decisions were going to be made after the next friendly?

Steve, I think the intention was for a decision certainly over Chadwick to b e made before the Stockport game. PP said in his post match interview he had given a lot to think about (Chadwick).

Gabidon is a good prospect, but currently would get little game time in my opinion. A bit like Taylor of a few seasons ago.

I'd like to see Dontai get some game time at an NPL Div 1. club like Mossley or Trafford. He's clearly an exciting prospect but game time will be limited and he's far too good to be playing in our reserves. Dual registration should ought to do it.

Not seen enough of Walters to pass complete judgement but he did look promising on Saturday, as did Chadwick who had without a doubt his best game for us. It's a good position to be in but a decision needs to be made so we can go into the season settled.

I wonder whether we may try and get Callum Dolan back? If we only had the budget for one id be tempted to go for him. Bags of potential.

Looks like Walters is out of it now as he is trialing with Brentford.

that's a shame....Walters really stood out on Saturday particularly with his tracking back.

I was thinking between him and Nathan Arnold I would immediately go for walters to start the season.

Think he's one who slipped through the net.....

Really liked the looked of him and I'm sure he'd start for Ashton. It would be a shop window for him, would he be satisfied with a squad role here? Interesting Adam Morgan played vs County last night - any views on his performance from those that went?

Hi JTH, I went last night and saw the game. I also saw the new player during the second half. He has quite a history from what I can see according to our site. His movement as a forward was pretty good. I noticed he was very good at moving into space. However, I felt the other players were not singling him out with their passes, possibly because he was a new trialist who they had not played with before. I suspected that if they had found him with a key pass, he may have been able to finish but the situation did not arise. On the occasions he did get the ball he played ok and did not give the ball away but made reasonably sensible passes back or alongside to other players.

It was too early to form an opinion as he needs more time with us which we may not have before decisions need to be made. On two or three occasions yesterday I saw his movement and signalling he wanted the ball played through but the pass did not happen and we passed out to the wings instead. He did take this in his stride though. May be worth another look.
