The new Alty related Twitter account is ripe for a roundtable discussion of the legendary 90/91 season in a podcast and a few pints. Ballers possibly in the chair. What an incredible team we had that year. Conference league unbeaten record for what 20 odd years too until Crawley chucked a lot of cash at it.

What a season that was. The 28 game unbeaten run which I think started on a Tuesday night in October at home v Yeovil in front of a crowd of about 650 and ending on a Sunday afternoon at Stafford in April, i think after taking the lead. Along with the Barnet game, the last minute  3 2 win at home to Kettering with the Golf Road going bonkers, and the 9 2 win v Merthyr particularly stand out. Also once you got into March having to turn up 30 mins before kick off at Moss Lane to avoid the queues. Finally the 3 3 game away at Slough and all the conspiracy theories.

That unbeaten run in the league was ended by a 1-0 defeat at Barrow on the previous Wednesday.

As for that season, when Gary Simpson was replaced by Gary Anderson we never looked back!
