Title: Alfreton - Match Thread
Post by: Mrs Warbouys on April 03, 2019, 03:04:28 PM
Alfreton 6/4
Draw 13/5
Alty 7/5

A tough assignment in prospect with Alfreton on a great run of form like ourselves. Four wins and two draws in
Their last six outings. We need to just keep winning and hopefully we can have a decent away turn out much like we did at york. It’s an easy game to get to for Alty fans with direct hourly trains from stockport. And only 20 quid a pop. Five or six of us on the train, taking in the delights of kellham island in Sheffield for refreshments Enroute

Hopefully 4 of us on the train. Looking forward to it.

Been looking on route planner and have decided it's doable for me so will drive across from Shrewsbury to Alfreton and I will obviously be at Telford next Tues with a few mates. Who WILL be supporting Alty.
Two difficult fixtures but winnable games. As others have said, a good turnout by the Alty faithful is practically a given this season.
Cmon Alty....

Another massive game. We do seem to be better against form teams (as a rule).

Same starting 11 as last week.

Alfreton 1-1 Alty (Williams)

We can win this - provided we stay tight at the back.

Does Alfreton have a covered away end ?

Does Alfreton have a covered away end ?
From memory, there is some cover at the back of the far end terrace, but most of it is open to the elements.

It's an unusual ground with loads of red plastic seats many if not most in the open without cover.

To One foot in the grave, if we are "tight at the back" we could either win or draw. pays to be tight at the back ha SBL

Wow . What a tremendous performance by everyone.. we were under pressure for about 2 mins then we got going and produced 7 brilliantly worked goals.
Only downside was Connor having to go off..
Really glad to see James Poole play a good cameo roll when he came on and was unfortunate not to score

Alfreton's  Arena Stadium is quirky but fair dos the pitch was in good condition and flat as a pancake.
It was dead easy to find and the locals were friendly.

My MotM today was Altrincham FC including vociferous fans ..
I hope the lad who kipped through the second half got home ok

We would have beaten anyone today including Stockport.

Take this to Telford on Tuesday and 3 more points beckons.

I'll have to set off early Tuesday as Telford is all of 9 miles away...  ;)

Well they were wank. Not lost in 5, who on earth have played.

We were, at times, outstanding. Mom could have been anyone, but I go with Ceesay for cheeky 1-2 with the bar for our first.

Well worth the ball ache journey to the most depressing ground ever

If we beat Telford on Tuesday well probably finish 3rd.

A win at home to Brackley if we get wins against  telford and chorley could really be on the cards

They were actually unbeaten in six, including a win over Chorley, and draws against Bradford and Spennymoor !

Their only recent defeats were Stockport and Brackey

Basically we passed them to death. A great team performance with no one player better than another, but I must mention Simon Richman. Pressed into emergency service at right back after Connor Hampson was injured, he looked a natural defender.
