Title: Well done Alty today great organisation
Post by: Mrs Warbouys on January 01, 2019, 05:28:09 PM
Club deserve all the plaudits for overseeing our largest league gate since about 1980 odd, it went seamlessly. Despite the annual panicking from stockport about getting in, which has yet to present a problem any time they’ve visited . This is revisited every time they come here and they’re always in for kick off. So fair play to those who organised it. Football wise yet again we asked the same question and got the same answer...... I’d move heaven and earth to get Owen Dale back on loan for the season. We’ve watched the same game four times in about 7 weeks

Despite Parkinson and the players inept. The off the field very well organised.

The fact that no county fan was queuing at 2:55 says it all worked very well.

Agreed, everything was very well organised and went well, so well done to everyone concerned (also to Costello's who handled a large number of customers with no problem).

The only person who seemed to be troubled was the Stockport fan who boarded a northbound tram after the game, then, just as it was about to depart, asked "Is this a tram?"before leaving in a panic for the train leaving platform 3 45 minutes later, when he was told that it wasn't!

I was going to mention Barnet in 1991 but then I remembered that the gate that day was bang on 3000.

A lot of credit must go to county fans who also observed the minute applause impecably

The thing is your club listened, one pay gate was always going to be a problem and they opened a second, in fact the queue at your end was bigger than ours, it's not a "big time Charlie" thing but there are loads of clubs at this level who just have no idea, we've turned up in plenty of time only to see a queue a mile long and that can be at places where we take half of what we had yesterday. I've not heard or read a single negative comment from any County fan about Alty or the arrangement, see you in the National league.

Great to have good banter and compliments from opposition fans

Macclesfield fans, take note  ;)

Very well organised, really pleased to see the majority of County fans not allowed in to the Main Stand.

That's a superb effort by the club and much needed income into the clubs coffers  :)

Seems the board do listen then :D

It's such a shame that the last line was needed.

Was worried about how everything off he pitch would go yesterday. Didn't want another Chester. Everything was done very well and apart from the result I was happy. Well done all involved.

Credit where credit is due, very well organised by all accounts. Just hope the tab for GMP’s NYD overtime isn’t too big. Good article on OS explaining the planning that went into yesterday. Assume you could get in a pint in ok too? Those queues have been notorious at times this season.

On a side note, very odd this continual obsession certain posters on the Stockport forum have about the attendance breakdown yesterday. They’ve beaten us 4 times this season, I wouldn’t give a monkeys if I was them.

Yes, it is odd, and some of them - but only some, I should add - seem to think we were heavily outnumbered. Their attendances and loyal support have been one of their few sources of pride in recent years, although they do have a very good team this season.

Looking at it logically, the attendance was approximately 50-50, so, as they had around 1/3 of the ground, that section would be more crowded. With an average gate of 3400, they brought 1650, just below 50%, and we, with an average gate now of around 1300, took just short of 600, again just below 50%. Those averages include the two Christmas matches to be fair to both clubs, but the breakdown seems accurate and reasonable, or am I getting obsessed too?

I think you'll find they are hoping their fanbase will return as their results and league position improves. They don't have any financial backer so the only way they are going to get a better team is by getting more fans to return.

Yes, I know they don't get any of our gate money but they are egging each other on to grow the fan base. Good luck to them.

Does anyone know when the largest home league crowd excluding away fans was not including Barnet or Guiseley ?Have we topped 3k home fans only in the last 40 or even 50 years for a league game ?Obviously some of the away fans present would be estimates in years gone by .

Probably impossible to say as numbers entering by the Chequers (or Hale) End turnstiles have only been published since 2009, and even then not necessarily every season or every game within a season. It isn't possible to give a completely accurate figure for away support in any case as those who go in via the main stand turnstiles will not be separately counted.
