I am not blaming him for the poor back pass but seriously how does PP see a keeper in him. Absolutely awful and will not get better.
His decision making off his line is that of a school yard child. Maybe harsh but he's had way more than enough chances.
JJ was poor aswell, no movement in him, there were many occasions he should have got down that wing.
The large pitch showed how slow Moult is and without Williams and Harrop they ran through us. Williams will be a big miss.
Poor second half considering we should have been at them. We need to be more confident at taking players on. Hulme can't do this alone.
-
Fair assesment other than Moult did his job - poor second half - we could still be playing now and not trouble their keeper any more than the easy time he had after 4pm

Those highlights prove my point. Get Wynne back in net and also look around for a proven mature keeper. Thompson does and will continue to cost us. Never known a keeper to make so many terrible decisions coming off his line.
As for his kicking, which PP says he is apparently good at???? Awful.
The defence always look more nervous with him in net.

Agreed.

It's a Wynne Wynne situation in between the posts for me.
Wasn't convinced with TT last season
Very surprised the management didn't go for an established No1 pre season

I think Phil Parkinson had said before the season that Tony Thompson was his first choice and he was looking for a cover goalkeeper, before taking the opportunity to sign him when someone as good as Elliott Wynne became available.
That feeling of TT being the natural first choice still seems to be present, although I would choose Elliott Wynne myself.
-
Thompson is a great shot stopper, but his distribution is not as good as Wynne and it does scare me when someone passes it back to him.

Thommo set up the first goal yesterday and a good chance a bit later.
I think him and wynne are very similar.
I think the keeper who was more or less ever present in a championship winning side deserves a touch more respect...
Not that i disagree we could do with a commanding quality keeper better than wynne or tony...
