Decent draw that...our away form has been brilliant this season and no reason to be be scared of them.
Big game for Connor..a repeat of his goal on Saturday will do very nicely

i don't think any one draw is better than any other in the cup. as someone who works in stockport this has gone down very well.

I think I'm right in saying that the away side gets a straight 50% of the gate; the home side pays match expenses out of its half.

As another who works in Stockport, I am looking forward to this. It's tough but winnable, and am sure County fans think the same.
Ironically, for such a local game, you got have more chance of getting a train from London than from Altrincham. During the strikes, there are three (!) replacement buses per day, or you could get the 11A, the faster X5 from Sale, or Metrolink then train from Manchester.
PS I think the Olde Vic may open early every matchday now.

Could have been both a lot (o paper) tougher or easier. Massive pressure on them to get a result in front of their 'Ganin/Ganout' fans.

No, it's a 50/50 split of net gate receipts.
The net gate receipts due from a match (except replayed matches in consequence of a breach of the Rules) shall be the total ticket sales for the match less VAT, the travelling (and possibly accommodation) expenses of the Visiting Club, the fees and expenses of the Match Officials, and other match expenses allowed under the Competition Rules (which include costs relating to gate attendants, turnstile operators, stewards, weather reports, police charges, floodlighting in accordance with the Competition Rules, contributions to the costs of First Aid Helpers and any costs relating to clearing the ground of snow and water provided the Visiting Club is consulted beforehand on the approximate costs). Any shortfalls in receipts are the responsibility of the home club and are not to be shared. The Professional Game Board shall have the power from time to time to issue instructions as to what shall and shall not be allowed as a match expense.

The bbc will show marine v Salford but the stand out tie for tv is Dunston v Gateshead with Dunston being a Gateshead suburb. It’s like broadheath central drawing alty in the cup

The definition of a good draw is one which both Clubs are happy with. I’m sure this applies here...County will be happy with their home draw against a team slighty lower in their League...Alty happy as we’ve missed all the big boys and got a beatable local team to play on the road, which has been our strength this season.
Bring it on, can’t wait for it. Good luck to Connor too, going up against the team who binned him. Their loss, our gain .

If you look at their league results against the same teams that we've played so far, they're remarkably similar (apart from FCUM). We can win this at our best.

Try the Hope just a bit further up the road towards Mcr...........better than the Magnet IMO.........brews its own Fool Hardy Ales (many different types). Not fussed with the Vic anymore, it is the strange odour that puts me off

Very much so, and I thought Dunston should have had the coverage in the previous round (which probably would have ruled them out for this round) to see their excellent result against Chester.
On pubs, I think Stockport is one of the best drinking towns in Britain. There are two concentrations of good pubs and bars. One is to the north side of the town centre along the A6, including the Magnet and Hope. The other is to the east of the station, around the Market Place, and that includes my own favourite, the Petersgate Tap, on St Petersgate. That's a modern bar, not unlike Costello's, which has 6 handpumps, always including Hawkshead Windermere Pale, 4 craft keg lines, and traditional cider too. Without going on at length, there are several other choices too, in both areas.

Yes, it is a pretty good article, although it's two years old. Since then, the Cocked Hat has shut, although, on the other hand, the Midland has been saved.
I am surprised the Olde Vic on Chatham Street isn't covered and less surprised that new ones such as the Petersgate Tap, already mentioned, and Project 53 on the Market Place (Mobberley Brewhouse's Brewery Tap, although why it's in Stockport rather than Altrincham or Knutsford...) are not as they weren't there then!
If you want the Wetherspoons, it's the Calvert's Court, also on St Petersgate, which is the road connecting the station to the market.

Sorry, but I find this all extremely odd. People travelling from London complain about there being a railway viaduct when that railway enabled them to get there so quickly?
If you don't like "old school cask ale boozers", you can go to the likes of Remedy or Project 53 by the market. There are the two groups of good pubs by the màrket and in Heaton Norris if you don't want to wander around too far; although they may not be right by the ground, I think they are closer than the central Worcester pubs were to St George's Lane, even before Worcester City had to move out of town!
Stockport gives much more choice than Lewes, for example, which was once my local town. It might be less compact, but that is surely because Stockport is much bigger. Incidentally, I do agree with the suggestions for good drinking towns, but don't see why anybody would not include Stockport.

Well, I think we will have to agree to differ on Stockport and remain friendly....
By the way, unless anyone knows different, Stockport contains the only pub I know which gives avdiscount match days for people going to the match, or say they are.
