Title: Bradford PA: FA Cup match thread
Post by: One Foot in the Grave on October 04, 2018, 09:13:26 AM
I'd be less worried if we hadn't just beaten them at their place, and they hadn't felt that we didn't deserve to.

A lot of familiar faces, and a thirst for revenge, will make this a difficult challenge.

I take us to battle through 2-1 (Hannigan, Johnston)

Attendance 826

Dull weather so hopefully Hulme will start.

BPA are lot better going forward than they are defending.

Alty 2-1 BPA.  (Hulme, Harrop)
Attn 813

Wasn't it this condition that caused Edgar Davids to play in tinted goggles?

We need to improve our performance when we haven't got the ball, do this and we are capable of beating anyone and I am sure PP is aware of this and working hard to sort it. It will be a tough game anyhow but I am sure we can go through 2-1

Hope Jordon is fit and also hope James Poole is fit enough to start.
If so then I believe we can win it by the odd goal.
We need to be switched on straight from the off.
Alty 2-1 BPA
Attendance 897.

Four score forecasts, all 2-1 ? Is this some kind of record?

I hope we are not getting into the ridiculous Premier league approach of playing reserve keepers in the cup.  It's madness not to play your strongest team

Great performance today, we started brightly and apart from a 20 minute spell in the first half were the better team. It will be interesting to watch the Bradford penalty back fom our position it looked a very innocuous challenge.
Moult ran all over as usual, I thought Williams played well and was unfortunate to get subsitiuted, Moult scored a brilliant goal.
Another brilliant goal from Hulme, when the defenders were all over him, and he just shrugged them off. He must be awful to play against, he just keeps on pushing forward.
For me the talking point of the game was our formation before and after the substitutions were made, after these were made with attacking players, (Poole and Hancock) coming on we seemed to hold the ball higher up the pitch. Do we continue with the formation early on or look to support Hulme more up front, I think we need to be more adventurous.
Bring on the next round and we can reproduce this form in the league.

Apart from his trademark kicking the ball out of the ground I thought Tony Thompson had a very good game. I was confident of the outcome of this game when I saw how tubby Nicky Clee was. Clearly conditioning is not high on the agenda at BPA. Our substitutions killed them off. When you can bring on players better than the men they replace in the later stages that can only be good. Jordan Hulme's goal showed how much fitter Altrincham players were.

Bit surprised to see Thompson in nets, but it might have been down to the Wynn error last week.

No idea if it was a pen but judging by our reaction it probably wasn't. The 2nd was basic defending of a corner. At least we didn't concede from open play.

Dominated the 2nd half and thoroughly deservered the win.

Mom was Harrop for me, with some outstanding performances (esp Jones and Hulme).

Dunstone at home next please

Great win today, £15k in the kitty to boot.

Superb second half and good to see so many players coming back from injury.

Come on Alty.

Plenty of lower level potential opponents left in. I'd prefer to avoid Warrington and Witton, but Dunston UTS, or Marine would be fine for me.

Silly question time..does the 15k from winning this round get added to the 9k from the last round...or is it just the 15k?

I realise that’s likely a daft question, but thought I’d ask!

Marine would be nice..get some revenge on Neil Young

I don't want Marine, I reckon they'd be very dangerous opponents indeed and a huge banana skin.

Absolutely-a shocking dive. Something which was mysteriously not mentioned by BPA’s boss in his post match interview via their Twitter page, he did however manage to fulminate about the foul in the run up to our second equaliser at length.

".... when Beesley was hauled to the ground by Jake Moult inside the 18-yard box."

Yeah right.

Now we've had time to view the video I reckon Mr Bower will be feeling a bit daft this morning. I couldn't tell from the Golf Road but that's as blatant a dive as you'll ever see. His players must've said so - either that or they lied to him. Well spotted Brian.

Bowers post match interview was very disingenuous to say the least. Captain Killocks on the other hand was bang on, 'we deserved nothing'.

I think he is right to feel aggrieved about the foul in the build up to the second goal. The ref appeared to play advantage but there wasn't any as the guy was immediately intercepted. However it did balance out the penalty decision, so it didn't cost them like he says. His team should have shown more resilience.

I would doubt that either management team would be happy with that ref. What he didn't miss in the first half, he got wrong. He improved a little after the break.
