Title: Crewe Alexandra : match thread
Post by: One Foot in the Grave on July 18, 2018, 02:33:12 PM
Arguably our toughest preseason test, but we have no reason to be fearful after our display against the old enemy.

Hopefully there'll be an improvement on last night's disappointing gate of 485.

485 is about right for a pre season game really. It's also not much less than some of our midweek league attendances last season.

Yep, as stated 485 was par for the course I thought. Plenty will have not gone to an Altrincham v Macclesfield friendly out of principle. Should be higher on Friday. Hopefully we can continue our good pre season form, and make a final decision on the Rokka/Miller and trial keeper situations.

I have listened to the friendlies and Miller sounds sharp and confident again. A fit Miller would be huge for us.

I was pleased to see that Miller has lost his excess weight over the summer. He looked lively enough last night.

We only got 700 at home for our last competitive first team fixture at home to Macc in the FAT, and so I’d agree with Flynny that (nearly) 500 for a mid-summer practice match seems reasonable enough. Particularly for a friendly that no-one really wanted to see us play.
With mitigating circumstances, it’s also more than the last mid-week home crowd to watch the EvoStik winning side a few months ago.

Felt sorry for the keeper.........maybe nerves got to him

Suppose it is no different from any of us going for a job interview and making a complete mess of the questions.........been there

Gutted to be missing this friendly. Hope we can the keeper situation soon.

Much I would like to sign both Miller and Rokka can't imagine this is financially viable

I think Sean Miller should be our final signing, and Rokka if we can fit it in our budget with the 2nd keeper. Sean looked back to his best V Macc, try him again V Crewe then make the decision
