Interesting that last line. My guess only allowed because any advantage to Stalybridge won't benefit their season.

I think it's more that the game needs to be played regardless or Shaw Lane won't be able to fulfill their fixtures due to how bad their pitch is.

I guess we have to hope the BBC long-range weather forecast for Barnsley is somewhere near the truth - no rain after Friday & temperatures climbing to the dizzy heights of 18 degrees as the week progresses! Seriously, if Shaw Lane's pitch remains unplayable I suppose the League might look for a venue somewhere 'neutral' - like Tameside? I can't see them authorising a straight switch for the reason you gave earlier.
