Need to put them away on Tuesday.

Good discipline and don't let there niggling tactics get to us.

Hope we have a strong ref.

2-0 Alty

My first ever home mid week game after I finally managed to engineer a work trip to the North West on an appropriate date!

A strong ref will be vital. Away fans I have spoken to at both Warrington and Stafford have commented on Shaw's agricultural methods. They are on a down, but so were Workington. Hope Hannigan is fit.

I hope we put them away. They were our main opposition so I hope we have an emphatic victory.

They already lost one manager to some team in Lincolnshire. Is this the second one who has got the boot?

Their chairman's statement on the sacking interestingly includes the wording "we need a manager who can work with the existing squad".

Their chairman's statement on the sacking interestingly includes the wording "we need a manager who can work with the existing squad".

You could read that two ways, either "the squad are a difficult bunch and will take a special approach" or " transfer deadline day has passed, so they're stuck with what they've got when they come in".

Going back to the point about the referee, if you look at the Twitter feed for Shaw Lane for the mach on Saturday, they were complaining about the referee, and blamed him for the result. It looks like he dished a few cards out and they didn’t like it.

They often do so. It's actually free seats on the team coach. Their home gate on Saturday was 172 including a few from Nantwich. Ecky has told them they can't bring their drum.

Very tinpot. For me the players and management should always be on their own separate coach.

Finnquark just beat me to say they have appointed a new manager very quickly; Chris Willcock, who formerly managed Rossendale, Salford (when they didn't have their current riches), Winsford, Woodley, Mossley and Glossop.
He was very successful at Glossop, but it seems a move away from their former policy of appointing young, up-and-coming managers.

I predict a 3-1 win for us in front of 589.

Raining heavily here in Hartford. Forecast to dry up about 11am. Big game tonight surely a better crowd than sub 600. Wish I could go but can't, anniversary of my dad's passing so will need to be with my mum. Good luck and come on Alty.

Here in Timperley it's drizzling slightly, but looks as if we had quite a bit of overnight rain. Don't see a problem unless we get a serious downpour later.

Was at the club last night, pitch looked pretty good.

Still drizzling, but the dry weather over previous days should mean pitch is OK.

Looking forward to the game tonight, hopefully England on the Telly won't put people off coming along. Need to get behind the team from the off.

Now raining steadily, but predicted to be dry after lunch. I'm expecting the new manager to get something out of his squad.

We win 1-0 with a JJ penalty. The rain + England + two Dingles and a dog cuts the gate to 511.

Totally in control...ref bottles a blatant red card...then thommo loses his head completely dashes 10 yards to bring down player...absolutly ridiculous thing to do....then ref bottles a clear pen for us

Ht 1-1

Alty totally in control but after ref bottled the red the game changed and thommos moment of madness was unfathomable..

Fantastic result and Warrington being held at home too. 6 points (effectively 7 with GD) clear with 9 left to play.

Brilliant performance, their only shot was a penalty. Johnson was on fantastic form, Hancock made a difference playing through the middle and we were back to the team we were a few weeks ago.
I thought Hulmes first goal was class, he took it really well.
I have to say they were utter, utter rubbish, on that form they won’t even get a play off spot. They were the worse team I have seen at Moss Lane for some time.
What a difference a week makes.

Post by: oneedham on March 27, 2018, 10:16:13 PM
What a performance.

Firstly, well done White who I have dug out recently. Pushed on and what a cross for Hulme.

I know that Poole is decent but Hancock is and always will be more influencial number 10. He was unreal tonight, gets into the box, wins headers and shifts the ball much quicker than Poole. Poole's ball retention is only vital when you are a few goals up. Much higher tempo with Hancock in that position.

JJ is much better on the left and must play there. As previously stated he can jink his runs, rather than just go on the outside.

Peers works hard and a good finisher. He is strong and gets up with play. I would keep playing him.

Moult looks a different player with Richman alonsgide. He comes out more because he trusts Simon's energy in getting back.

Richman this season has been immense. That boy has a pair of legs.

Jones was excellent tonight amd only 21 years of age.The whole defence stood strong.

Only one mistake but not here to critiscise anyone tonight.

Excellent crossing tonight, hard and low.

Buzzing lads. This team does not get bullied.

Well done lads, thoroughly deserved, great result and scoreline wasn't flattering (for us) either.
Richman possibly deserved Mom, but won't begrudge the decision for JJ.
Giving opposition Mom to Reevesy was top trolling!

Back on winning ways, keep it going lads! 8)

Absolutly blew them away 2nd half...apart from one error we were men vs boys.
Superb management to turn that blip round.
Thommos allowed one error hes not let us down since abbey hey and you can see from his running to the halfway line to celebrate every goal how committed he is.
Lets go get this league won cmon alty!!!

Great win that, the scoreline puts down a real marker even with their recent struggles.

Really looking forward to coming up for Saturday now. We’ve been superb in all our aways in the Midlands this season.

I think two wins over Easter weekend will go a long way towards securing it but one game at a time with the silly schedule ahead of us.

Superb result and performance. They were utter parcel, but you can only beat what's in front of you.

Bad to single out individuals after such a great team effort, but White and Peers were excellent.

Only real negative is Harrison injury. If he is out for the season it's a big loss.

Bring on Rushall

I'm horribly afraid it's his cruciate. If so he'll be a massive loss. To potentially make matters worse, a normally reliable source reckons Poole may be out as well.

Shaw lane certainly lived up to there reputation for being an aggressive team.
So glad we beat them big time. There number 3 is nowt but a fkn thug.

Onwards to Rushall on Saturday. Let's get this league won asap.

Well done lads on a great performance tonight especially Peers. Moult and Richman

JJ on the left is a bigger threat and Simon Richman in there (MoM) made all the difference - he is a must against most teams in this league

Ref made a big mistake with the first half challenge but did well thereafter

Poole will be missed as a squad player but we have Hancock as no.10 and Harrop who can also do a job there. Harrison is a huge worry due to Hannigan's injury history.

Without wanting to get too carried away, we’ve got ourselves back on track thanks to results elsewhere and us doing our job.

However, that should take nothing away from Last nights performance. Whilst I’ve seen better footballing performances (perhaps at times we’ve been spoilt - Stourbridge springs to mind), that was a superb team performance. We won the second balls, we kept it simple, and high tempo.

Simon Richman was outstanding in his efforts, his confidence of winning every ball led to him having a pop and scoring the second.

We got players pressing together, fighting for the ball, and playing with energy - excactly what we were missing in our two home defeats. I was impressed by our team pressing by the ref on every physical challenge. Whether a tactic or not, it ensured no foul (bar the penalty on JJ) went unnoticed.

I still would like to see Harrop on the pitch, has he and Phil fallen out? Barely played recently.

I suspect Harrop is just being managed; he's still learning his way a bit in the game and it's no surprise we've looked assured again since Richman's return alongside Moult.

Hopefully the heavier pitches are now a thing of the past and we can just do our thing - I look at the fixture list and suddenly can't see 7 points being dropped, but one game at a time.

Did JJ play on the left?

Agree with this. Harrison is a big loss but Poole missing is a lot more manageable.

Post by: andrewflynn on March 28, 2018, 11:51:46 AM
Should never have gone in level at 1-1. Can't remember them having a shot other than the one from the spot. Sure Thompson will be a little disappointed to have given away that penalty but otherwise we looked assured at the back, TT included who's distribution was miles better than the Bridge game.

Agree that no Poole is more manageable than no Harrison - we were without him for sections of our big run of form earlier in the season so we've shown we can do it without him. The signing of Sam Heathcote now looks a bit more clued up, doesn't it. If we all agree that Jones and Hannigan are our starting pairing while Harrison is out, then that makes Heathcote, Moult and Hampson (when back) the three deputies.

They tired much quicker than I thought. After our fifteen minute spell at the start of the second half they physically couldn't challenge. Taking nothing away from us though as we were at our ruthless best.

Great attendance, too, considering they brought next to no one. Only 1,104 at Salford City shows the potential we have.

This crazy run of games we have coming up will require the squad to be well managed. Therefore, I can understand Harrop being kept fresh as everyone will have to play their part over the next 2 weeks. My worry is that if Hannigan gets injured again, we are looking very bare in the centre of defence. Having said that, we've done well to get this far into the season without any major injury problems, so we've not done too badly.

yes, but more important, he won the first 1 v1 and therefore had the defender worried and making mistakes then on in.

Max Harrop on his day can be a match changer..........has a big part to play in the remainder of this season

No way he and Phil are at loggerheads, seen them chatting in the bar and all looks good to me. As someone else has said, PP is just managing the situation as he sees it and I won't mention names on here, but some of the players have said how good he is with them
