Title: Winsford United match thread
Post by: One Foot in the Grave on March 21, 2018, 08:00:26 AM
Whilst my initial thought was that we should ease our way out of the competition, it's probably important now to give a few players a game to keep them match fit for the run in.

No reason why all last night's bench shouldn't get a run. Deasy is an obvious selection, as is Bailey-Jones provided he hasn't already played in the CSC for Stalybridge.

We'll probably lose in front of 150 people, but I'm going to wander down to assess the different options.

Play the reserves... I do not want to be reading the headline at the the back end of April. "We f**ked the league up but we won the CSC"

Can't wait.

Altrincham 4/6
Draw 10/3
Winsford 5/2

Either side could be a real value bet there dependent on team selection. I'll be honest, I'm not entirely sure who we still have on the books as a Reserve but based on who has featured for us already this season:

                                 Deasy

C. Jones       J. Jones            Reserve           Westall

                    Merrie             Davis

   Peers                    Harrop              Reserve

                              Heathcote

Could do with recalling Miller. I'll go for a 2-3 defeat in front of 102.

That's the CSC done and dusted for another season. Now the focus is 100% on the league.  3 points at Halesowen on Saturday will get us back on track.
Cmon Alty..

Can't argue with that.
Promising performances by Palma, Merrie and Davis, but not many others. Winsford clearly wanted it more, as indicated by the reaction of their fans.

Their left winger was the focal point and he ate young Cal Jones alive unfortunately. They quickly cottoned on to us being lightweight at full back and exploited it well - credit where it’s due.

Best of luck to them.

I thought Bailey-Jones had a half decent game. I'm  afraid I had a tenner on Winsford at 13-5.
