Title: Remaining fixtures
Post by: One Foot in the Grave on February 27, 2018, 02:01:24 PM
Number of Tuesdays and Saturdays remaining this season : 17
Number already scheduled for a fixture : 14
Fixtures TBA : 2

If Shaw Lane is off on Saturday (£50 to a bag of pig manure says it will be), there will therefore be no free dates for either subsequent rearrangements , or additional cup ties.

We can't afford to beat Winsford or we're practically guaranteed at least one week with three matches.

Just as well we're not still in the Trophy eh?

Nice insight.

It will be interesting to see what the bookmakers price the Winsford game up as. Considering we were heavy favourites at 1874 last round, I can see us being very short at home... making Winsford a real value bet given the context.

Spare a thought for 1874. They had a good run in the FA Cup & now the Vase & tonight's game is off so they have a minimum of 30 games to play before the end of the season.

Makes your one week with 3 games in it a tough ask  ::)

Two ways of creating more playable dates. First one do away with league cup and replace dates with league fixtures and make county cups pre season tournaments., the warrington v winsford saga was farcical

not really, Warrington have played the same games as us but you don't see them complaining

We shouldn't be treating the trophy with such disrepect

They also tossed off the CSC last night though Jamie, don’t forget.

Interestingly, some fans at Winsford don't seem happy with their chairman either.

"Winsford United F.C. Shareholders Meeting .

Sunday 11th, at Barton Stadium, 7pm start.

Vote on a Resolution of “No Confidence” in the present Chairman.  All shareholders welcome, You must bring ID with you, if you intend to VOTE."

Yes, and quite right too. I sincerely hope we do the same.

I’m not saying they were wrong to do it, just pointing out to Jamie that whilst they’re “not complaining” (which coincidentally I haven’t heard our club do either) they’ve disregarded a competition to make way for “more important” fixtures.
