18 league games and numerous regional cup fixtures to fit in inside 9 weeks, and 9 Athersley Rec home fixtures. Shaw lane are due to play at home on weds in the Sheffield & Hallam senior cup against the wonderfully monikered "north gawber" and on Saturday against Coalville

If we don't get a decent run of dry weather we will be facing a similar backlog....

News just in, the Sheffield & Hallamshire cup draw has just been made, if shaw lane get through against north gawber on weds they've been drawn at home to swallowsnest or frickey 😂

Knowing that area, it is Swallownest Pete

Now it could have been "Intake" or even "Beauchief"

Good question Ray. I'd assumed (lazily) that they'd already played Grantham twice due to the league rejigging fixtures.....but the two haven't met at all this season ! Even if Athersley Recs were at home, I don't see why they couldn't play at Grantham. With their backlog rapidly mounting you'd think they'd be begging to play.

As I have just mentioned in person (!) to One Foot in the Grave, Athersley were at home on Saturday while Grantham entertain Shaw Lane on Easter Monday which is a game you wouldn't choose to switch.

Something I put on a thread on Saturday.

Apparently no extra rain had fallen from the previous inspection - just a different referee with a different opinion...

It's bad enough that they're inconsistent DURING the game.

That just makes it pointless getting in someone else earlier. Maybe they should have called the earlier bloke back to ref the game.

Surprised nobody has mentioned the big Sheffield and Hallamshire Senior Cup game, but it was
Shaw Lane 4 North Gawber Colliery 1.
Damian Reeves scored 2 and Shaw Lane finished with 10 men as Kieran Lugsden was injured after all the subs had been used. Meanwhile, North Gawber finished with 8 after three dismissals, which were all for the same incident in a mass brawl at the end of the match!
The attendance of 201 was pretty much their league average.

Think nobody mentioned it because there not arsed about Shaw Lane. Just need to concentrate on ourselves, its in our own hands.

Still happy to see they've got to squeeze in yet another game though.
