Title: Sutton Coldfield- Match Thread
Post by: Mrs Warbouys on February 15, 2018, 08:32:19 AM
Alty 1/6
Draw 6/1
Sutton 8/1

Bottom of the table or not, need to be 100% switched on and get it done on Saturday. To put ourselves 12 clear of Grantham & Shaw lane AQUAFORCE would really leave both of them a lot to do.

Only absentee is Johnson I reckon. Can't see him benching Jones or Harrop so same starting 11.

Alty 3-0 Sutton Coldfield. Hulme 2, Hancock

Attn 856

If Hannigan's fit, he'll surely start.

He  might well. It would be very harsh on Jones

Why? Jones has been outstanding in the last two games.

Personally, I'd be saving Tom Hannigan for the 'big' games, as we simply don't look like conceding when he plays. We're very blessed to have 3 such outstanding centre backs.

With the £5 MUFC/MCFC ST/Membership holder offer on again I’d be surprised if the gate is below 1000. It’s been doing good business on Twitter after Danny Higginbotham with his 62,000 followers Retweeted it.

More great work from our social media team getting this stuff out there and retweeted.

Look what the team has done now!

Not many Northern Premier League clubs on Sky Sports.  Brilliantly done by Jordan Tyms in particular

The pitch looks in good nick (see main website) looking forward to tomorrow's game. No worry of a pitch inspection.

3-0 Alty
att 1012.

The promotion push continues
Cmon Alty

Another important three points, though we looked a bit ring rusty but credit Sutton who came and had a go at us. We need to win half our remaining games. On we go to Ashton

I've probably missed this being discussed somewhere else, but can anyone enlighten me as to why Shaw Lane and Grantham didn't play today?

Shaw Lane’s home ground being used by the owners, and Grantham host AQUAFORCE on a Bank Holiday so don’t wanna give it up. I think.

Made hard work of that we definetly looked rusty and need a run of games to fully get going again....but full credit to the team for battling through and win a game that looked losable the longer it went on.....

Credit to the first decent ref I've seen at this level...let the game flow and didn't make it all about him

First game where I've been really impressed by max harop fully deserved MOM

Very decent crowd considering I don't think any away supporters at all?

3 points closer to not having to watch us break down stubborn hard working teams like this at this level.

Well done PP and the players....Parkinsons red and white army!!!

First game in 11 days or so - hence a bit laboured at times but credit to the team for grinding out another win. Sutton Coldfield worked hard, closed us down well and generally made it difficult - they didn't look like a bottom of the table Evostik team on that showing.

Max Harrop deserved MOM and another great strike for the equaliser. Connor Hampson and James Poole also did well today. Hope Dens is OK but good cover options as Andy White came on and also did well.

Come on Alty!

Another great result

Its a long time since we had a team that is capable of grinding out a result like that . We would have bottled it not long ago

Well done all

Up the reds

Right off the pace today. Aside from Harrop and Hampson  who were mint. Thompson had 2 shots to deal with in the whole 90 minutes.

Hulme had absolutely no service.

The pitch is fukked. No blame attached to the ground staff but it's killing us.

It's results like this which win leagues. Thought Poole and Harrop were decent, JJ looked lively when he came on.

Special mention to the ref who was excellent today.

Onwards and upwards.

I spoke to the ref in the nws.

'you were good today but a tad slow in decisions' me

'it was definitely a foul, I was just making sure in was in the area or not' hm

' well you eventually got it right' me

'cheers. Wish I could move a bit quicker' him

Fair play. One of the better ones we've had

A bit of a huffy puffy display after a layoff but fought well to gain another 3 points.
Harrop  was deservedly MotM and scored a superb goal

The pitch was very heavy (nobody's fault) let's hope for a dry spell. I still believe that on footballing ability we should fear no other team.

Well done lads..

Not often you see both goalkeepers booked for time wasting. I wish more were. Absolutely no need to take as long as some do over taking a goal kick.

Hard fought 3 points today and fair play to Sutton Coldfield. Thought they were the better team in the first 15/20 mins and after that worked hard to frustrate us. We never really got going and didn't work their keeper anywhere near enough for all the possession we had.
Thought the ref was the best I've seen this season. Good to have one who remembers football is a  contact sport and just because you fall over it doesn't mean its a foul, wish there were more like him.

Yet again, God above nearly had his say .
I'm with you praying for a dry spell

I said to Hash and Nom de Plume that the ref's slightly restricted mobility was probably the only reason he wasn't operating at Conference level. Probably the best we've had in a league game this season.

That is an interesting point.
Ian Gittins, as he deserves to be named, was excellent, but I am never convinced that the best referees end up being promoted through the leagues. He may have been a bit slower than most, but he got all the decisions right. Perhaps that doesn't tick the boxes?
