Title: Halesowen- Match thread
Post by: Mrs Warbouys on October 12, 2017, 09:44:16 AM
Key game on Saturday against a somewhat rejuvenated Halesowen. A chance to hit the summit with SLA in cup action Warrington & Farsley having tough ties at barwell & Lancaster.

Alty 4/11
Draw 19/5
Halesowen 11/2

Watched highlights of SLA v Buxton, they look a very cynical outfit SLA, full of punching, kicking, pinching, feigning injury and Haranguing officials, must be cuter than them up there in a couple of weeks time

I couldn't watch all of that. Quite apart from the sound effects of one man and his dog and the pin ball nature of the game, the camera work is enough to induce a severe case of motion sickness.

Why is Reeves only a sub by the way?

Not pretty at all, and, what a dump, looks like a poorer ground than Raynes Park Vale down the road from me. Reeves must have either been very pi55ed of here last year or so sick of the travelling to go there.......never seemed to be a money chaser.

Shaw Lane are very odd but are doing rather well.

As for our game, I didn't see the game on Tuesday, but I was surprised to see Densmore on the bench as he's done nothing wrong.  I like Short aswell.

Same with Peers, Hancock and Poole quandary. Without doubt Poole is a cut above but Hancock has been massively understated as the 10, so Peers makes way on he left.

Alty 2-1. Hulme, Poole. Attn 657

Why is Reeves only a sub by the way?

Because he's a footballer, not a clogger or an actor.

It's a nice problem to have because I don't think Peers has been that bad either. Hancock has admittedly exceeded all expectations this season (although I didn't know what to expect), well done PP - he made a big call on Jerome Wright too.

I'd go as far as saying (when 100% fit) that Hulme, JJ, Hancock and Poole aren't droppable - which doesn't leave much room elsewhere.

I think it's going to be a tougher game than we'd assume based on current league positions.

Going for 2-1 Alty.

C'mon Alty. Lets keep that good home form going,
3-1 Alty. ATT 578.
Top of the league for the first time for a very long time...

They've improved since picking up a couple of decent loan players from Crewe.

We leave it late to win 2-1 (Poole, Hulme).

Attendance 617

I hate to tempt fate, but they're a decent price at 11/2 given their upturn in form  :-X

Well done to the lads for a good result today. Nice to be sitting on top of the pile, let's really kick on now and try to put some daylight between us and the teams below.

Feeling very happy tonight.

Very proud tonight. Yes, I know the league is a dung heap, but how lovely is it to watch a bunch of lads who want to play for Alty again. A big well done to PP and all the lads.

Thought we were a bit nervy first half, but OMG did they up there game second half, there defence did not

Know if they were coming or going,JJ ripped them apart in the 2nd half, they had to double up to try and stop him.

A raise a glass with all the alty fans tonight....we are top of the league....

Now the work starts to try and pull away from Warrington and Shaw Lane.

Well done all and great to hear the fans in full voice.

Another good performance from the team. Halesowen were well organised in the first half, they were playing deep with two lines of four and two quick lads up front.
Their no. 9 looked a good player, quick, direct and caused us one or two problems.
A great piece of skill and goal from Hancock after the break to open up the game. The penalty for the second goal was bizarre, the referee took an age to make up his mind.
Hope Hannigan is OK, I haven't heard the news of what happened, Bembo-Leta showed his usual energy a right back today,  althougn I am not sure he is a centre back.
Good to see Sean Miller get some game time, but he didn't really have time to make any impact on the game, I hope they play him in mid-week in the cup game.
I know it's only the glue league....but it's great to be top after the last couple of years.

We are where we are due to 2 relegation whether or not you think this league is sh*t is irrelevant...
What IS Relevant is we are top of the league and that is what matters most.

Well done PP NS and the lads. Your a joy to watch and long may it last

Next up Warrington. Slightly nearer to Alty from Shropshire

C'mon Alty

First half was utterly dog sh*t.

The early goal in second half settled us. If Densmore would have scored that it would have been the bestist goal I've seen ever.

Richman was mom

We are miles better at football than any team I've seen. Whether we can win ugly week in week out we'll see

I see a paradox here, your proud to be top of a league your ashamed  to be in? Work that out?

Very much a game of two halves.  It must have been some half time talk or something as I think we had gone ahead even before the manager, kitman & co. had emerged down the tunnel.

Besides the other good performances, Tony Thompson had to do more work than in most recent games, and produced a couple of superb saves.

I expect a few of the fringe players to get a run in the League Cup while we get ready for the top of the table local derby on Saturday. It's good to say top of the table, whatever league we are in!

Thought second half we got out of the blocks and showed our class. That must have been some team talk. Special mention for Tony Thompson. 2 very good saves today. Over 800 as well. Onward and upwards.

Good feeling to be top of the pile again.

I thought Richman and Moult were massive today.
