Title: Hednesford Town match thread
Post by: One Foot in the Grave on September 23, 2017, 08:45:26 PM
We appear to be visiting the Pitmen at the right time. Pasted 5-0 at Mickleover Sports this afternoon, and have apparently only got a squad of 15-16 players if their forum is to be believed.

As long as we don't succumb to a James Lawrie wonder goal we should have every chance of 6 points from this game and then Stalybridge next Saturday.

For this game I would like to see Dens right back, if he is fighting fit, with a returning Short who we missed a lot today.  I think Harrison will be injured so Hannigan to partner Jones and I would play Richman, who has been in the top 3 consistent players so far this season. Poole is a different class but maybe start him on the bench and see how we get on.

I have a horrible feeling Steve Burr will be sacked before we go to Stalybridge next Saturday.

James Lawrie will score a screamer.

They've Halesowen at home on Tuesday, failure to win will surely be enough for the sack.

I agree but I think Short is struggling to clear up the knock he's got.

Is Jones not suspended?

Think it will be the same starting 11 with Moult at cb and  Richman coming in. Poole coming on as and when

As I understand it Jones got a straight red at Shildon rather than a second booking. That I guess means it will be more than one match? Anybody know the regulations? I don't!

I was under the impression a straight red is a 3 match ban,two yellows

Is a one match ban, don't quote me though.

Hednesford 9/4
Draw 3/1
Alty 4/5

Seems to be a fair bit of money going on hednesford so far. They're reasonable odds considering they're unbeaten at home

Jones's red was, I assume, for denying a clear goalscoring opportunity and I think that comes with a one game ban. It's violent conduct (like Harrop's) that gets a three game ban. So I think Jones will be available for tomorrow.

 Thing in this league.

I thought we'd win tonight, but from what I have heard, it was the manner of the victory that was the most impressive thing. Well done to everyone involved.

We're actually 5th, but with a game (or even 2) in hand on the next 3 above us. Only Shaw Lane aren't catchable unless they drop points.

Saw a video of Hednesford on saturday and knew it would be an easy win, but just shows what a good result saturday was, Grantham hit 6 tonight.

And achieved without JJ, or Miller or Harrop.

From listening to the commentary, it sounded like there were very few, if any, nervous moments.

As One Foot in the Grave says, according to the league, we are 5th, and the 378 attendance was the second best of the night,  assuming that is not beaten by the late kick off at Stalybridge.

Thanks for correcting think I posted before all results were in.

After the last few years it still feels bloody fantastic.

After two utterly depressing years, can we start getting excited now?
I hope this brings a few more people through the turnstile, while PP has turned things around on the pitch, we need to sort things out off the pitch to get the fans back.
Even last year when you went in the CSH at half time the place had some atmosphere, this season it is awful.

Just back from the match. A slick performance tonight. 3 points well deserved, we were out of the traps straight away. Played at a high tempo for 90 mins. Could have been a much bigger win. There keeper was superb in fairness. Bembo leta was superb also Hulme took his goals well. All our lads played well, sharp attacking play. A pleasure to watch them, ...

Well done to all concerned. Terrific effort

We were superb last night, and if you look at our next three games, the run could potentially continue.

Excellent result against a team who hadn't lost at home, sounded like it was fully deserved.

Looking forward to Stalybridge

Totally dominant display last night. But for a sensational performance from hednesford keeper James Wren they would have been beaten 6 or 7 without reply. Many very good performances for our team last night. JBL was unplayable at times as an attacking full back. The work rate from the lads up the top end was excellent. But as a unit there was very little wrong all over the park last night. Let's take this on to Saturday and beyond.

Brilliant to see we're finally clicking - shame it wasn't in time for the FA Cup but the priority was always getting out of the league this year.

There's a long way to go yet - but IF we achieve the main objective, wouldn't it be nice to have a quiet summer for recruitment (save for the odd tweak) - that's the dream.
