Title: Witton - Match thread
Post by: Mrs Warbouys on August 27, 2017, 07:45:45 AM
Looks like we might be down to the bare bones

-----------------Thompson
--------Moult---Hannigan---Jones
-------Taylor--Richman--Sheridan
Johnston-----------Poole---------------Hulme
-----------------------Peers

Looked like a few were in trouble at the end yesterday, might have to recall the forward from Ramsbottom. A key game to win tomorrow, but you'd probably take a draw if we have so many missing

Might indeed be a good time to recall Tolani Omotola, especially as he scored Ramsbottom's late equaliser at Hyde yesterday.

Is Densmore not available after his vacation?

And what's up with Harrison?

Harrison looked to be really struggling in the last 15 minutes yesterday, and only seemed to stay on because we had no subs left.Densmore will be back but jet lagged according to yesterday's article. Short looked injured and a few others were hobbling at the end also

Excited about tomorrow's game but with the injuries I would play 3 at the back with Johnson and Hancock as wing backs to counter attack them. With a 3 man mid and both Peers and Hulme up top. I reckon we would get them on the attack but both wing backs would have to work really hard at their defensive duties.

I know people are avoiding home games, but hopefully we are bouyed by a large travelling support. Long time since we've played witton, it's very accessible, no reason why we shouldnt take a few hundred. Trains are running normally tomorrow, the alty to lostock gralam services depart at the following times

Outbound
10:46
11:46
12:46
13:46

Returns
17:34
18:39

Adult return £7.80
Child return £3.90

Nearest pub to lostock station and wincham park is the slow and easy, it's a two minute walk from the station and about a 20 minute walk from the ground

Is playing Johnston at wing back and wanting him to put in hard working defensive duties possible? He's great for pressing forward and getting at teams but not sure he has a defensive mindset!

If I was the opposition and saw him at wing back, I certainly know which flank I'd be aiming to attack down.

Might come in handy if you get off in Northwich

Yeah I agree it would be a gamble and I was critical of his defensive  duties when I first saw him against Wrexham but I would like to see us get at Witton and would take the gamble. We could easily go 4-4-2 by putting Richman at right back if we are getting over run but I would love to attack them and have two up top for the first time. On Richman, I think he has started the season really well, considering he had no pre season. I didn't go yesterday so I am hoping he had a good game. Still want him back in centre mid for his pressing and energy.

Much as I like Johnson he'd be as effective as lawrie as a wing back in his defensive duties.

Is Densmore not available after his vacation?

I believe that he tweaked a hamstring whilst catching the bride's bouquet.

The official line (from the manager) is that he "may be suffering from the effects of jet-lag", but I much prefer Cult's theory.

Last season we played like most of the team were jet lagged every week.

Jesus. For once we've actually turned up and played instead of the inevitable. Two well worked goals, Wittons keeper is extremely poor. Probably should've had a penalty for a foul on Poole as well. Hopefully see it out as we've got players in odd positions due to Richman going off after a poor challenge

Table looking much healthier now! A point off the play off spots,3 points off top and a plus goal difference. Let's keep this winning run going!!

Well done pp and the team...starting to buzz now...as much as Phil was shocked by the fans hostility after Stafford he will b amazed and love our over the top celebrating when we go top...

Excellent result that...i couldn't go but know they will have worked hard for that.

Finally looking up a league table instead of down it...thank you Phil keep it up.

Well done to the team and management. A crucial result which will, hopefully and injuries permitting, enable us to go on to greater things.

The front 4 of Poole, Hulme, Hancock and Johnson clicked magically first half. Really good goals. Densmore was very good at left back.  Gutted to see Richman pick up an injury, he has been very good. Also gutted to see Dens go off injured aswell.

Three points off the lead, level with Stafford, and ahead of Matlock. That shaky start not looking so bad now.

The lads put on a good display today, I was surprised  how lightweight up front Witton were, there No7 was a very good player.

Well done lads, management and staff et al.

Cult, when was the last time we won 3 on the bounce?

It does, but results like this, considering the number the number of injuries accrued before and during the game, even if Witton's defence wasn''t as rock solid as I had feared, do give hope that we might see results like those once more - just possibly.

It was great to see our players play like their CV's today.

We've seen it at Stalybridge that it isn't always possible to combine 10 new signings and it click straight away.  They couldn't live with us today and for all our panicing (based on the years of nonsense watched) they never really troubled us too much and could have no complaints.  I think as the team learns how each other plays and likes the ball we are going to become a really good side.

Aside from the great goals, there were two real body on the line blocks, one in the first half and one in the second to stop shots.  Does anyone know who did them?

Hannigan blocked well in the second half. Not sure who it was in the first.

Well done to the lads today, well deserved victory, there heavy tackling was a concern and surprised 1 if not 2 were not dismissed.

Hopefully our injuries will clear for the weekend.

Referee was very poor. The foul on Richman was at least a yellow, but he waved play on. Not his only mistake by some way.

The refs and liners are especially sh*te in this league.

But at least we don't seem to have those who strut about ruining the game with by the letter of the law decisions sending off loads for minor infringements with no intent...

We really should be allowed to pelt the officials with rotten tomatoes as they leave the pitch escorted by ATS ....and the assistant ref can then analyse the amount of fruit shown and mark the officials accordingly....
