Well...he says at least twice that there were not happy with the fans reaction...he said we were hostile...he said everyone could see we deserved to win or draw....so.....the glass is very much full....not sure I saw the game that way...and the keeper was not at fault for any goal.ho hum.

Can't be arsed listening to the interview,I wasted enough of my weekend watching the game yesterday! We deserved nothing and got nothing, simple!

I admire the man's positivity and I don't think he can just come out and say everything is terrible. However, I would be alarmed if he didn't make changes for Tuesday night. Very alarmed.

If Parkinson is proud of that performance we're in big trouble again I'm afraid

And picking an argument with unhappy supporters isn't going to help

I admire him sticking up for his players and as I said a defeat can happen in any game. I've not been to many 3-0 defeats we deserved to draw or win in though in 30 odd years I have to say.  I hope the players appreciate that.

We were not awful yesterday at all but likewise we were not "outstanding"

Very annoyed that the support for most of the first half has been ignored, the fans around me sang and encouraged.  I have no voice today.

Yes some people booed at the end and some people shouted stuff but let's not tarnish everyone with that please.

Strange interview, I thought you tried to win at all cost, seems like the style of play comes first and the result second. It also looks like we have no plan B.

Strange indeed. While we dominated possession in the first, we never had any real end product, and there is little point in pretending otherwise.

There is also a worry of a rift developing between players and supporters if the latter are not thanked for some outstanding support in the first half, but get blamed for showing their unhappiness at the end.

I would say his criticism of fans who booed the players at the end is a failure of imagination (he's clearly not understood what a season like last will do to a fanbase) but also a case of him having built up expectations and talked himself him up too much.

Frankly, the less he says now until he starts to produce results the better.

First post for a while, frankly the most devastating result since Fylde at home. Pleased by PP's appointment at first but the sleeping cynic in me did wonder how we are feasibly going to to 'football' ourselves out of this mess, fair play to Phil but I'm guessing we are just part of his aspirations to move higher up, young guy an all, would have expected a Mike Bassett type with an Andy Morrison or two to elevate us from this condition. 3 nil loss at home first game, does not bode well. Oh Alty always love you, cmon reds.

He won't move very far if he loses more than he wins but it's too early to say that.  I believe he can football his way out of this league as he so nearly did it with Nantwich so he has a track record for it.

He has to learn very quickly that this is not Nantwich though.

He needs the fans with him, he had been given unconditional support to start him off.  He has to understand that after what people have seen in the last 2 years, Alty managers start with little credit in the bank and people are fragile.

I believe he'll get there but that interview was naive in the extreme, even if that's what he thought he does not have the credibility yet to tell us things are outstanding.  Loads of people have differing views on players, tactics, I defy anyone to show me someone else who thought yesterday was outstanding.  If there are people reading this who do think that, I'll gladly listen to your opinion.

Let's get Nantwich beaten and start this season.

"Anybody who knows their football can see we didn't deserve to lose that game....first hour we were magnificent"
Well to the uneducated it looked like a team that posed no threat up front, a pedestrian midfield and a defence that didn't do the basics.

A lot of crap in that interview, but I do like his confidence in himself and his players. We just need to get a win on Tuesday then Saturday because another two bad results and confidence will be an issue.

"Forget about the Stafford, we've got a new plan for the Nantwich".

"C'mon boys....We're better than the Nantwich"

"We're class.....class".

I am happy to put my head about the parapet, I thought the first 30 mins we were outstanding, the football was very slick, but the problem being for all the pressure we didnt actually get many shots on target. On another day we could have had 3 or 4. Their goal was against the run of play. They defended extremely well with everyone behind the ball, there were so many shots blocked it was untrue. After 30 mins though I thought we did nothing of any note. You cant win a football game playing for 30 minutes only, unless it is subuteo. Must do better up front and tighten the back four up fast.

Listened to that with an ever widening mouth and eyes at the sheer defensive arrogance of a manager who thinks that dire performance was in any way acceptable for altrincham fc.

Cheeky sod...i think i know my football...dont think their keeper made a save in the 2nd half....apart from a weak moult pen...complete insult to the fans.

We played well for 20 mins in the 1st half and gifted them 2 goals.

We deserved to lose that game......you have to earn the right to play nice football...it was dire...1 up front...a 3 man midfield outrun and a winger consistently failing to get past the full back...

The year we won the Unibond, didn't we lose 4-0 at home to Harrogate first game?

No we drew 1-1 with Frickley. The Harrogate 0-4 was 2002/03 and we finished 14th

No - that defeat was in August 2002. Mind you, the season we won the Unibond (1998-9) we started as follows: DLDDDLLL. Our first win that season, in our ninth League game, was on September 19th. I tend not to look at league tables until about ten games into the season, to be honest.
As regards Mr. Parkinson's interview, all I can say is that the game clearly looked rather different from side on than it appeared to me, watching end on, as it were. There were times when I was almost glad that I'm not available for the next two games - hopefully a week tomorrow will look a bit better ...

I am as disappointed as anyone that we lost on Saturday. But I can see where the manager is coming from, I don't believe we deserved to loose 3-0. We had numerous opportunities in the first half to score. They were either saved, blocked or off target. I reckon they had 4 attempts on goal all game and scored 3.

There is a lot we need to improve on, closing down, better marking at corners, faster crisper accurate passing to name a few.

Time is currently on our side, I hope PP has learnt a lot from that game he is not sharing with us and has a plan to improve the results. Interesting to see how we get on against Nantwich tomorrow as they are rebuilding also with a new manager.

will lose fans very quickly with such defensive MD style rubbish......suggesting we paying customers don't know anything about football with his anyone who knows about football will tell you we were outstanding comments.....

An insult to the fans making Moult captain after we watched him give away ball after ball, goal after goal last season......so he's on a bit of thin ice and needs to get the results his arrogance warrants....and be the bigger man and change things when they are clearly not working.

An apology to the fans for an abject performance would have been more appropriate than that diatribe....

Changes need to be made.....I'd make Harrison  or Poole captain for starters...that'd be a skipper we could get behind without past memories...

Thanks Jenga and Alty Dave. Always willing to listen to others opinions and it makes for a better forum if people feel they can offer a different view without being lambasted or called names.

I remain disappointed with the interview and the overall performance but there's a long way to go. It will all depend on how quickly he learns or adapts on both fronts as to whether this season is a success.

Onwards to Nantwich.

We'll know enough after five games I think to really know what we're in for over the next 9 months.

My concern is that if PP realises we aren't where we should be as a squad does he have enough experience and contacts to make three or four quality changes to the playing staff that can turn our fortunes in the right direction.

I honestly think having Moult as captain was a very bad decision. The lads got about four wins under his belt on the pitch in the last two years. His confidence is shot. Let someone else Marshall the troops.

Tony Mowbray following Blackburn's 1-3 home loss to Doncaster on Saturday:

"It isn't a day for making excuses, it's not a day for anything other than the feeling of disappointment and frustration for the supporters."

Moult as captain was a very bad decision. He is like many captains in the sport arena; they are live and sole of the party, until they wear the captain’s hat. Performance drops confidence goes and they are spent. Captains are bred not made on a field of play.

It takes a very special person to wear that arm band. Dens is a classic example , not sure that he is up to it now though. So PP back to the drawing board.

I expected Harrison to get the job - he was PP's skipper at Nantwich after all.

Thanks Ray.....I made a mental note to use the microphone windshield after the Trafford interview, which had a lot of wind noise on it, then forgot ::) on Saturday to remove it from the microphone after the game & put it on my iPhone, which is what I use for interviews.

I will try to remember for the next time that I do an interview.
