Good morning everyone and what a nice day is again!!!! I believe that I will be making it that much better…… I have just been informed by my dad who is on his way to the conference AGM that he has received a phone call from Andrew Shaw………. ALTY ARE STAYING UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He has told me that Boston United will compete in the Blue Square North next season.
More details will be added as soon as they are available, until then enjoy the day, ALTY ARE STAYING UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just logged on, expected nothing. Can't believe this again, but one thing, for all the anti-conference/Moules stuff about the league being a joke because of this, think on. Perhaps this league is at least one that shows to all clubs that cheating etc is not acceptable, and will not be condoned or brushed under the mat. Higher levels and bigger clubs could learn from that.
Anyway who gives a toss right now...........YES YES YES!!!!!!

Well, it's quite clear we didn't stay up on merit i.e. all that on the pitch nonsense. However the issue of whether we deserved to stay up is a little more tricky and depends on what you understand by desert in this context.
If you go by the strong definition that the only clubs that deserve to be in the league are those that earn enough points to avoid being relegated then you won't consider our reprieve deserved. But simply because we were retrieved at the expense of Boston to me doesn't change the fact that, IMO, we deserve to be in the league at the expense of Crawley. Crawley having spent money on players they couldn't afford, then built up debts that allowed them to spunk more money on players. They have continually missed deadlines and paid back a fraction of what they legally owe.
A club that has behaved sensibly and ethically that goes down is more deserving of a place in the Conference than one that has lied and cheated its way to safety by spending money it didn't have and seemingly doesn't intend to pay back.

i agree people get together and celebrate like crazy tonight but would it not be an idea to do it @ the club? i'm guessing the problem lies with letting people know its open but to be fair if as i can only assume a few bevvies will be sunk by folk tonight and surely putting the proffits into the club coffers would be the ideal way to celebrate,

Was doing to car boot at Green lane school and so was Angela Jones all i heard from the other side of the car park was "Darren Alty are staying up" it certainly let the people at the car boot know.

Superb.
From the selfish point of view for London Alty and all our southern fans, this means we can carry on with most of our away games as normal next season. I think Hughesy's point about the fact that we've now enjoyed 2 reprieves is important, next season come the end of April I really hope we will be in mid table nothingness. We must not waste this good fortune now and really crack on next season. Hopefully Tinson will deffo be on board now and Chalmers will sign on as well.
Fair play too to John Moules, for all the stick he has received on here and Confguide in the past, on this ocasion he has not ducked a big decison. If Crawley had been kicked out as well then that would have been the right call for me. Still, we can't complain on a day like today.
I will end on the note that thank the lord we don't have to go to Tamworth next season. ;D

Im made up, got the call this mornin off frosty and went to pieces in the laverie! We totally deserve this no matter what anyone says, bit gutted crawley didnt go too, but thats another story. Roll on next season and the odd ridiculous round trip, even for home games!

I'm genuinly pleased for you guys. It didnt give me any satisfaction when we relegated you in 99/00 and I'm glad that justice sometimes does provail.

I think you've made a great point here. Evans is a total crook and has the respect of nobody in this league. We are very glad to be back in the BSP but we are under no illusions as to how very lucky we are.

The statement in the NLP regarding the Club knowing the decision at 5.00pm on Friday is incorrect-the last meeting with Boston United did not finish until 6.30pm.
The Club found out at the AGM on Saturday morning.

It just goes to show how far you have fallen when you are struggling to secure the signature of an ageing tinson and nantwich town have a bigger pull, who can blame him though in all honesty what would you prefer?
Hope we meet again one day maybe in your cup final (1st round fa cup) and give you one last thrashing for old times sake!

To publish the news prior to the AGM would be crass in the extreme and certainly not in keeping with the dignified way that this club behave and operate.

Is there something in the clubs constitution that all news must be passed within minutes of finding it out?
Maybe all clubs were asked to keep it confidential until ratified in the minutes or announced officially by the chair? If all other clubs knew then they followed the instruction to the letter.
We found out 15 minutes into the meeting..not bad going I'd say.

Confidentiality or not, are you f**king serious that we should have been told at 7.00 pm on Friday?? Really?
FWIW decisions taken aren't official until ratified at the AGM. If Boston had turned up at the meeting and gone "No, you know what, f**k it. Not bothered about what we said when we were talking yesterday, we're not accepting it.." etc something along those lines it would have blown the whole thing up.
