Title: Altrincham V Worcester City : Match Thread
Post by: York Alty is back on February 19, 2017, 05:30:24 PM
Trying to to follow the latest news re. WCFC, money is tight and their form over the last five games is the same as ours with two draws and three defeats.

I really can't believe it...but we could get another point.

Heady Days!

I am going for a draw.

A better game than the Harrogate fixture but only because Worcester make more errors than Harrogate giving us shots on target.

Less positive is our failure to score so its nil nil again.

The gate will be 750ish with an atmosphere akin to a morgue.

Depends what you mean by Sh1T. If you mean, no ground, no money and having to give notice to your entire first team squad because you are unable to pay their agreed wages then no we're nowhere near them. Then again we're now breaking our necks looking up at BPA, whose management team applied for our job when Jim Harvey did and who may well have the pleasure of applying our coup de gras, all on the back of bumper crowds averaging 353 - very nearly 1,000 less than our own.

This is probably the most winnable game left in our depressing season. That doesn't mean we'll win it. The crowd will REALLY be less than 500 and we'll lose 1-2.

If that's true, then I absolutely despair.

Worcester City have gone 13 games without recording even a single victory......and their last win occurred back on 28th November 2016.

So, what could possibly go wrong...?

Well they are facing a team whose winless league run of 16 games goes back to 8th.October 2016......and who they've already beaten once this season.

I'm away this week so it's a nailed on home win. The last two home games I missed were Welling and Aldershot last season so I'm expecting us to follow that trend......mind you they'll have to be dreadful to lose to us!

3-0 to the Alty

It wont be the start of something magical just a solid performance from 11 players with nothing to lose against 11 players who are bereft of confidence, a state we surpassed many months ago.

Needless to say we'll all faintly believe there's hope somehow...

nobody sane beleives there is any hope now, the same applies whatever the result on Saturday. All we can hope to achieve is to avoid finishing bottom. What a thought, there may be a team sh*tter than us!

It was an improvement in the fact we didn't lose, but let's be honest it was a dog of a game between two hopeless sides. Come on Matt don't make a clown of you or us by saying it was anything else.

You can fool all of the people some of the time, and some of the people all of the time, but you can't fool all of the people all of the time. Abraham Lincoln said that.

You can't fool us Alty fans any of the f*****g time. Not any more. I said that (with apologies to Bob Dylan).

Best 20 start to a game ever. 2 clean sheets back to back.

On the downside, who was lw?  Our lb had no protection all game. Good job they were clueless.

As for Reeves getting 10 minutes, fuk off youre taking the piss.

Darlington will put things into a true reflection

Well done lads, first home win and another clean sheet. Something to hopefully build upon. Thought the effort from all the players was there even with more forced injury changes. Still a long way to go, but for once was a lot happier at the end of the match.

They are a safe bet to join us next year in the Evo Stick, they really were awful. We played well for 10 mins but then, especially in the second half, just lumped every ball making no attempt to pass it. After witnessing the last two games it seems there is a definite direct style of play being developed under Matt. He also mentioned that Richman was back to his best when he rats around off the ball and takes no responsibility for passing it. I would guess that goes for whoever his midfield partner is too. It aint going to be pretty next year.

It's not certain that Worcester will join us, even though they're a nailed on relegation bet. They're marginally further south than anybody in that league, so will probably join neighbours Redditch United in the Evostik Southern League.
