I believe Young will be watching the reserves this weekend.

wow! This is refreshing

I believe he's going to the beer festival as well?

As a friend pointed out yesterday, would that mean he's been to Altrincham more times on non match days than Sinnott did in 5 years in charge?

Sinnott most certainly never attended any club functions, including the grand opening of the dwl - which was quite frankly disgusting

I've always stated from day 1 that LS was (in my eyes) a proxy manager. Not travelling on the team coach used to amaze me. Go to a match on your own steam. Tols does the warm up. de brief at HT & FT. Jump back into the motor and piss off back home. That is no way to build team moral

The reserves are part of the beer festival. So whilst he's going to both, in reality he's attending one function

So here's how we're looking at the moment. Obviously this will start to take shape and some players may not be in the XI by the end. Very excited for the "imminent signing" mentioned last night.

The one race night I ever attended Lee Sinnott was certainly there.

Charlie seemed to do a vanishing act from Southport last season, to the point the fans actually forgot who he was. Maybe he's just not found the right club yet. Good luck at Alty Charlie.

Updated with the addition of our new goalkeeper, Andrew Dawber, and the removal of Scott Leather who declined terms in favour of a move to Chorley. Six players on the books now.

Updated now that Damian has decided to stay. Delighted with this news, who will be partnering him next season? I for one hope Michael Rankine declines terms, I'd like to see us look elsewhere.

Seven players on the books now. Centre halves and wingers incoming, surely.

Updated following today's news that James Lawrie will be staying with us, and that Michael Rankine will be leaving.

I'm happy on both fronts. I think Lawrie has a lot to offer at North level and people forget he's still a relative young player. Provided he isn't put on the wing and he's given a run of games behind a striker(s) I think we will begin to see an improvement.

No doubt losing Rankine has freed up a good chunk of budget. Hopefully we can put it to good use and bring in some much needed wingers.

Lots of updates have been made.

Tom Hannigan goes straight in at centre back. Fylde fans seem gutted about losing him, much like Hyde did when we poached Havern a few seasons back. Looks like we could have a genuine rock at the back there so I'm very pleased with that signing. Presumably we will be bringing someone in to partner him, but I wouldn't be surprised to see the gaffer give Sam Heathcote a lot of responsibility in what will be a young side this season.

I don't expect David Lynch to start, but for the purpose of trying to build a squad with the players available we now have a four man midfield! You could say we're beginning to come together in the middle now, especially if we can get first half of last season Jake Moult back. Still awaiting some wingers.

I've moved James Lawrie into 'forwards' after news that he'll be played as a #10. Great to hear.

Great to see things being done early and with a minimum of fuss. A big change from last summer.

Neil Young has clearly come in with a clear plan and vision, very encouraging start i think.

Pretty well on the money Jack, but I'd look for a creative midfielder rather than a third winger.

I also think we'll be looking at someone who can comfortably play CB as well as their normal position. Going in with only 3 CBs was a mistake we made last season when Masha got injured.

Personally I think David Lynch could be a key 1st team player. He's stepped up from the same level as Ant Danylyck did when we signed him and  comes with very good reviews.

LB, CB, GK, 2/3 Wingers, 2 Strikers would bring us up to 18/19

I'd be inclined to bring in two more central defenders with one of those able to fill in at left back if necessary although Idon't think NY is afraid of using the loan market to cover any injuries unlike the previous management.

Updates! I can finally add a "wingers" section to the squad list after the announcement today that we've signed Jamie Menagh and Billy Hasler-Cregg. Two young wide players that both look promising, they go straight into the side for the purpose of the thread but do we all expect them to be starting?

I wasn't sure who to partner Jake Moult with in midfield but I went with Charlie Joyce in the end. That's who I think Neil Young will go for. Who do you all think should start in the centre of the park?

Of course things will become a lot clearer after a few friendlies, but there's still grounds for debate even at this stage. How do people feel about Simon Richman? Should he keep his place in our eleven? Do some people maybe want to see us play five in midfield next season, three in the centre?

Just trying to keep the forum chains moving is all.

IMO, no. Energy levels very good but distribution of the ball very poor. Certainly a squad member but not a regular starter.

I agree with both of you. It's going to be Moult and one other, like Jimmy said, you'd hope that one of Neil Young's signings is at least technically better than Richman. Maybe not physically, but that's where he'll play a part as a good squad player.

Sorry all, been busy.

Fifteen on the books now and we're barely into June. Can't argue with the way in which business has been done so far and I'm really eager for the season to start. It looks like we're building a squad of young, determined players who will give us some fight to cheer for. Hope that's the case.

Cyrus goes in alongside Hannigan at the back. Hobson goes up front alongside Reeves at the expense of Lawrie. Opens up a good debate - two up front this season? Or do we pack the midfield and go with Reeves on his own?

Having heard what NY had to say about James Lawrie, I reckon he's a certain starter in the hole behind Reeves and Hobson. Hasler-Cregg may have to satisfied with starting from the bench, at least to begin with.

Sorry about the lack of action, the original list has been updated and it shows a squad that is almost ready it would seem.

Taking into consideration the input from others about Lawrie, I've added him back into the Predicted XI playing in the hole behind Reeves. Them two and Moult will provide us with a spine down the middle.

I think the main area for debate is now on the wings. Friendlies will be the obvious indication as to who we see starting. I'd expect to see Menagh on the right, though.

I'm excited to see players picked on form this year.

I think with such a young squad there will be hopefully be a few less ego's around and players knowing their place is constantly under threat.
