Title: Match OFF
Post by: GolfRoader on January 06, 2016, 06:44:05 PM
One corner of the pitch unplayable apparently.

Outrageous.

Twice fans and players have had to travel for nothing.

This is even more outrageous because of how sure they were it would be playable.

Is that 3 postponements now?

They've put a right shift in to try and make the pitch playable, lots of hard work from volunteers. Let's not forget that.

That being said, having seen some photos of the unplayable corner I don't want our players anywhere near it. It's a beach. The problem here is that the correct decision should have been made during the earlier inspection this afternoon, absolute joke that it has come to this again.

Spot on.  Cannot detract from the efforts put in, bet those volunteers are absolutely gutted.

That pitch has Alty injury written all over it.

Assuming nobody fell down the coach steps, guaranteed no further injuries before Saturday too!

Three times. And they are one of the bigger sides at that level too, oh dear.

If we haven't asked already this should now be moved back to Moss Lane. If not somewhere near to them (Kiddy? Nuneaton?) that will actually be capable of getting this game on.

Still no where near enough to prevent wasted journeys.  Why tweet that pitch is OK this afternoon when there is any doubt at all, just keep quiet and let us make our own mind up.

Glad I learnt from last time and didn't believe a word of it and stayed here!

I thought the guy in the gate was joking when he told me it's off again. Unbelievable.

It's now here same time next Tuesday if the pitch is actually playable.

Anyone who went tonight deserves a medal and recompense from them in my view.

I suggest we start a tab for the bar on saturday for anyone who went tonight, I will contribute to it so at least they get a free drink this weekend for their loyalty and commitment.
Anyone else want to join me?

What a joke. Shows them up for the amateurs they are, notwithstanding the efforts that the volunteers made. I would blame their decision makers for this farce, why leave it so late to get a referee in to inspect when it is at least a 2 hour journey for most of us and the team.

I went to the last one when they called it off even later, despite their Twitter account saying it was playable. This time round...same Twitter account saying its dry and playable etc.

Very poor effort it has to be said, I feel sorry for Alty fans who have made the trip. Having already been stung I was not going to make the same mistake again. When I saw the pictures of the beach earlier I feared the worst, how could they think that was playable and tell the world that it was ok?

Never playable in a month of Sunday's. Plainly obvious they thought they'd chance it and hope to beat us on a pudding of a pitch with us having a couple of injuries. Complete discourtesy to Altrincham football club after dragging us down there last week already. The game should be played next Tuesday at moss lane but I understand it will again be at Leamington again. How they are ever going to dry that pitch out I don't know. I'm a bit old school in my thinking towards pitches and what's playable, that most certainly isn't and never was, the lack of afternoon inspection is at best incompetent.

I'm yet to encounter a playable pitch due to water after one day, Frost or snow obviously but this ludicrous. If we travelled again plus the fans the bill should be paid. Bunch of amateurs. Do they want us to throw it?

Not that surprised though after they proudly showed a photo of some farmer chucking sand on it. It isn't 1975.

Leamington now blame apportioning, suggesting we "didn't fancy it" because reeves isn't fit. The fact that we agreed to move the game 24hrs at absolutely no notice seems to have passed them by on that one. This quote by a local journo quoting their manager leaves a very  sour taste as we trudge back up the M6

"@couriersported

.@LeamingtonFC just held a 90-minute training session on the New Windmill pitch. Paul Holleran: "That tells you what you need to know."

They trained in the middle area of the pitch which was ok, a game isn't played in a 20 yard area, very very poor that from Leamington

Surely the ref called it?

I was watching them train before I left to return home and thought they were doing it to prove a point. They were solely in an area way down the pitch that looked OK and keeping well clear of the quicksand at the bar end of the pitch. A total farce from start to end.

I'm going next week because I am stubborn like that. Part of me wants to knock it on the head after 2 wasted journeys but no chance.

All the people I chatted to at their club was really welcoming to be honest and well done to the volunteers who helped try and fix the pitch. Shame it's now appearing their management are showing bad form trying to blame us.

Training on an already inadequate pitch, who are we dealing with here? What muppets. Starting to understand why the ex league clubs in our league don't want to be involved with park teams like this despite the kudos of a Wembley trip.

Have a funny feeling it will all work out in our favour, we will smash them 5-0 next week (or whenever the game takes place)

We've a week to organise ourselves, we need to get down there in numbers for next Tuesday. Book your half days now, we'll be well
Up against it, on the pitch and by the pitch itself. Let's get down there and get this tedious affair won.

On their official site, Wrexham anticipate a postponement of next Tuesday's game and have published this communication:

To: Clubs involved in matches still to be played in The FA Trophy 1st Rd Proper

Further to the email circulated to clubs on 15/12/15 below, this email serves to provide notice to clubs involved in postponed or replayed 1st Rd Proper match this week that, if a match is further postponed and is unable to be played this week, it MUST be rescheduled for either Monday 11 or Tuesday 12 January. Any match that is further postponed on Monday 11 or Tuesday 12 January MUST then be rescheduled for either Wednesday 13 or Thursday 14 January in order to provide every opportunity of it being played prior to the date of the 2nd Rd Proper on Saturday 16 January.

In the event that a 1st Rd Proper match is not played and completed by Thursday 14 January, then it MUST be played on Saturday 16 January which would mean the 2nd Rd Proper having to be played in week commencing Monday 18 January.

Finally, the FA would like to acknowledge the hard work and effort that is being put into making arrangements at short notice and hopefully co-operation will continue to ensure that matches can be played on the earliest available date, in order for the Competition to remain on track and prevent causing fixture congestion in the future.

That seems to make the position clear enough. However, had someone at the FA shown a little foresight things might have been made a little easier. As soon as the powers that be made the final a post-season (i.e. May) game they should have moved the whole schedule back to how it used to be, so that Round 1 would have been scheduled for Jan 16th & everything else at 3-week intervals thereafter, which would have put the semis a clear fortnight before the end of the League season. The combination of Christmas & New Year fixtures which of course must not be moved, weather problems which are becoming much more common at that time of year and a non-regionalised draw for Round 2 is a potent mix labelled 'crisis waiting to happen'. Putting the whole thing back a month or so would have taken out the first of these issues at least. God willing we won't end up travelling fruitlessly Tuesday, arranging a game here for Thursday & then heading off to Sussex-by-the-Sea on Friday (assuming an overnight stay en route for the team), but this farce could run and run ...

It's actually reappeared on the FA website now as per
12 Jan at Leamington, though looking at the weather forecast for the next week the FA need to be proactive and move it to redditch/Solihull/Bedworth etc or play it at moss lane I've no confidence it will be dry enough to be playable
Next Tuesday With the forecast for that area
