Title: Mac Tickets
Post by: robininstockport on January 30, 2015, 04:45:46 PM
Unless a home fixture is arranged for next Saturday, getting Mac tickets is now a pain in the arse for many.

The requirement for a ticket is not the idea of Alty but the way that Macc chose to do business unfortunately.

It would be disingenuous in the extreme to criticise Altrincham for this

I'm not criticising anyone!

It's just a massive  pain to get tickets now

Could the club not sell them through PayPal and post them?

Being lazy and not researching,  I had no idea about tickets for the Macc game. Can we buy them from our club?

I assume I'll be able to buy from the ground (Maccs ground) on the day?

Getting a ticket was just a reccomendation to avoid queuing as I understood it?

Yeah, but you've got to go to the ticket office, get one and then take it to the turnstiles, no cash on the turnstiles.

Don't you also save money by buying in advance?

I hope everyone realises that the ticket office will only be about 100 yards away from the turnstiles, it won't take a Mao esque long march. Won't be that much of a logistical problem.

If they did you'd really have to cover the paypal fees and postage ( as the club will have to send Macc £12) which would be about a £1 which would eat into the £2 saving somewhat.

Thanks, ill do that then!  I've just booked my hostel in Birmingham for that night as its the closest I can reasonably get to home after the game! Cant wait

Don't know what all the fuss is about - just get you ticket from Macc, the away ticket office is next to the away turnstile

The match is not all ticket, and will be sold until kick off

That's true, but we are not exactly loving the lack of cash turnstiles.

Apparently, there was money going missing from the gates, so the club changed the system. But it is annoying that with rarely any more than 1300/1400 in the ground that you can't rock up and pay cash on the gate.

I'm afraid that's the price of progress...oh no that's something else. That's the price of thieving fans?

That's an interesting piece of information/rumour/fact. Entirely in keeping with your clubs inability to tell anyone the truth about money of course but do you reckon there's much in that? Annoying small amounts or enough for the club (or indeed the perhaps it was the tax mans prompting) to have to go cashless. Because as you say it's a bit of a ball ache for a small to medium club to have to take such measures.

Who knows?! You know about as much as I do about any clubs true finances. Nowt.

But having said that, with our average gate of 1400, there will be well over a grand taken on each individual gate, so there is plenty of scope for people to try and nick some of it.

A bigger problem was people trying to get in as concessions when they weren't. The only problem we've had with the system in as much as getting people into the ground goes, was against Chester, because a ruck of them turned up five minutes before kick off and those at the front started arguing that they were students without ID, and basically hoped that the guy behind the window would give up and let them in for cheap to get them out of the way. So their mates missed kick off because they were trying to con a few quid. Luton turned up the following week with more fans and had no problems.
