An Altrincham FC Director during the 1970s, as I recall.
I think that his butcher's shop used to be located on Stamford Park Road.
I'm sure that George Heslop will remember him:

John & I first crossed paths in St. Anne's Home in 1944, I was having tonsilis removed. John was 7 & I was 5. We part of a clique who grew up together, including John & mysdelf, there were Ernie & Sid Fryer, Graham Oliver who all arrived at Moss Lane sometime in our lifesl John Pendlebury, Graham Oliver & Ernie Fryer were all Altrincham Directors sometime or other. Graham Oliver scored plenty of goals for England Schoolboys, went to Manchest City but had a broken leg & on his come-back broke it again, never to play again. John being a butcher used to supply turkeys to all the players & back room staff @ Christmas. His last shop was based on Stamford Park Road.

We used his butchers shop for many years, despite living in Knutsford at the time. A really friendly man,who will be sadly missed.

A lovely man and always pleasant and polite. He also did a lot for Alty FC. I knew him well in the early 1970's and remember him getting me out of a fix after a match at Runcorn. He had two lovely kids who were young teenagers at the time and use to stand with us on the Golf Road End, I think Claire was one of them and went to Loreto. I could be wrong but I thought he had a Butcher's shop on George Street and was a Butcher himself.
I also knew Graham Oliver very well as he lived opposite me and gave me and my Dad tickets to the 1973 FA Cup Final. Again a really nice bloke.
R.I.P. and prayers and thoughts are with them and their families.

Very sorry to hear this.
His shop was at the bottom of my mums road and I used to ride my bike round the coloured flags outside his shop making an obstacle course. Can remember it being a very busy shop and he was a popular man.
Thoughts to his family x

I remember John Pendlebury being a director of the club when, or very soon after, I started supporting in the 70s. Condolences to his family and friends - RIP.

A very decent man. My dad went to his funeral and said it was well attended and was a fitting send off. RIP.
