Title: passion???????????????????????? ? heart???????????
Post by: oneedham on April 18, 2014, 10:01:13 PM
I need to vent. We need to get rid of Sinnot, it's not an over reaction but we are are heartless. Nicky Clee last challenge just before the whistle, pathetic, summed it up for me. It's bollocks, we stand off and ain't fit enough! We only got tight to the black lad in the last ten mins of the first half ( let him know we are here), seen many wingers like him, we had one from loan from Morecombe,  give them time and room they'll destroy you. I must have shouted 'tight' 15 times in the first half.  Long ball again, pass caring we need a change. Softest 6ft 2 skin head in charge guy I've ever come acoss. Get some passion boys. My passion is dying and Sinnot destroys it. Apart from Richman I've not seen a hard challenge for years. Embarrassing!

Wow. Didn't see any lack of passion at all tonight.

Seemed  fully committed on and off the pitch.

Decent game for a 0-0 that we could well have won as we pushed forward at the end.

Quality support as well. Biggest league away support since when?

I enjoyed the game but really we should have won.

Where did all those people come from?
How can we have more fans at an away game than at some recent home games?

Bollocks , plenty of passion , let's give county some credit , they are a much improved side than we played at Moss Lane , think my only criticism is Lee should of taken off Rodgers for Richman .

I didn't think it was heartless or passionless. Tough derby game where either team could have snatched it.

We have no divine right to exist in the league above. Where we are in the conference North is accurate. We may be in this league for a few seasons yet or if we go up, straight back down. Sinnott or no Sinnott.

I didn't say it was an amazing performance. I said I didn't agree that it lacked passion.  It lacked some skill but that's because some of the players aren't good enough.

However I thought they gave their all. That's my opinion and I'll stick with it.

You'll be telling me the clubs dying next.

Ok let's settle with that performance.  I can't judge it's been a while since my last away game! Flat season for me personally,  but if we perform like that in the playoffs we'll be destroyed

Definitely no lack of passion, to be fair Stockport did their jobs well. What we lack is talent in some areas which unfortunately we can't do anything about this late in the season. Have your opinion on Sinnott but don't make things up to fit your argument.

I didn't look at Stockports record before going tonight. They might not be very good at scoring goals (that's now six games on the bounce now they haven't scored) but they appear to be very good at stopping other teams scoring. Before us they've had 0-0 against Brackley and North Ferriby, and the last time they scored was in a 3-3 with the amazing Danny Boshell's superb Guiseley team. In the meantime they've lost twice 1-0. So as disappointing as it might be to only draw it's hardly a surprise. Those who were there and thought Altrincham were poor as ever completely overlook the fact there's another team on the pitch also trying to win the game.

Utter sh*te. No lack of heart or passion.

Staggered we didn't score. Upset we didn't work the keeper more.

Rodgers did well breaking it tbh.

A poor post this one. Are u really a supporter? Give the team more respect. Same team that played 3 nights earlier, and we gave it a great go in the 2nd half. A very special night to be an alty fan - biggest away following in league possibly ever?? (not sure we had more than 500 anywhere in 91 season) and a great bunch of lads on the pitch who never lack spirit or will to win. Couldnt ask for much more - just that reeves chance to go in!

I disagree thought we were totally lacking in passion

Tonight was an utter shambles, I think some are thinking big ground big crowd, a draw job well done

If we had played like that at home to Colwyn Bay or some other mid table team we would rightly have been booed of the pitch

I thought the players absolutely worked their socks off tonight. The problem is that apart from a ten minute spell we were unable to exert concerted pressure, meaning it was end to end and either side could have snatched it . This has been true of virtually every game I've seen this season, mind.

Disappointing not to win, yes, but it wasn't for a lack of effort or the p-word...

Poor first half that County probably had the better of, we were  better in the second half but unfortunately couldn't really get Nicky Clee on the ball nearly enough until the last 15 mins or so. Our defence did quite well but midfield was poor. Assuming Richman was not fit enough to come on because it was crying out for Rodgers to be subbed (some 'passes' nearly cleared the stands  :-\)

Agree that if we play like that in the play-offs (safe to assume we're in them yet?) and it'll be all over very quickly with us getting turned over.

Much rather have passing than passion as that was more lacking tonight.

Rodgers might not be the creative midfield player we all believe we are entitled to but he is more of a stopper than Richman. Without him there they would have won a lot more of the 50/50s.

Good post. I couldn't fault anybody for effort tonight, but we still didn't have what it took to win the game. We're still some way short of Conference standard I'm afraid.

It's all about opinions but 90% of Rodgers major passes went astray tonight and for all his running that is not acceptable.  Richman for him on Monday I hope.

Some fans on here just dont understand the game. Who'd be a chairman or manager with so called supporters like weve had on here. These lads wouldnt have got home till 2am wed morning after a hard fought win at oxford. Some of them then working wed and thurs. And they were out on their feet at the end tonight after dominating the last 20 mins and nearly getting the win. I just hope the players dont come on here to read this utter nonsense clearly wriiten just to be controversial for the sake of it. Very poor. Saddens me on such a special night for the club.

The main disappointment for me is that we have had the players to win this poor league but we have not had the knowhow to win enough games. Only winning the play-offs will make it  a successful season.

Great support tonight and the only surprise was it ended up 0-0. A vastly improved Stockport team from August and an entertaining game. Ref missed a nailed on penalty on Walshaw, but on the whole we lacked any real creativity tonight.Against an improving team we had little or insufficient phases of quality to win this tonight. We would have lost this type of game 2 seasons ago ( Fc United trophy tie) Playoff perennials is the best it's gonna get, Hyde and possibly Chester back at Moss Lane next season!

"such a special night for the club" what you on about? We were at 15th in Conf North. The draw means our faint hopes of winning the title have now gone. A very bad night for the club I would suggest

As I said earlier seems many people are getting confused with the big ground and big crowd and thinking that somehow a draw is decent, I couldn't believe the reaction at the end, anyone would have thought Stockport were still in the Championship????

What a load of bollocks the opening post is. Really are you a football supporter? Do you know the game?

That was a hard fought point with commitment from everyone.

We played the ball down the wings and we definately did not play the long ball tonight. Of course there were occasions when we did and they almost paid off.

I am going to say, well played everyone, that was a very well earnt point and the lads can be proud of the performance they put in.

A few problems at times, some stray passing and some weaker tackling, but i seriously didnt come out of the ground thinking we had thrown 2 points away. I think we won 1 point tonight.

No lack of passion for me just thought our tactics needed changing.
I thought our midfield sat far too close to the defence leaving Wally and Reeves isolated.
We needed one of our centre mid field players to push up closer to the strikers.
I felt it was an inability to change tactically rather than lack of effort that was the problem last night.

Lots of passion shown by both sides in a hard fought local derby. A draw was the correct result, as neither side had strikers good enough to breach two well organised defences.
I'll disagree with some here in that I came away from the game slightly disappointed. I never felt Stockport could score, so the game was ours to take, but we just couldn't get that elusive goal.
The away support was truly remarkable. I thought 500 or so may turn up, but 621 crikey!!!

Thought that we lacked energy rather than passion.  Stockport very well organised and will not concede much with that defense.  Again everything creative through clee, who was knackered towards the end of the game.  Please please stop playing long diagonal balls behind the defence, it isn't working

I think the issue people have is not necessarily that Boshell was allowed to leave but the fact he hasn't been replaced, leaving us with an average midfield.

We all seem to forget also that Boshell spent quite some time on the bench.

Availability of Williams would have secured the league and under Lee the team are doing fine. I disagree with Uday and O'Needham in calling for his head, we have reached the playoffs two seasons on the trot. To change the manager now would be foolish as we go back to midtable as players leave and changes are made. We would just be taking a step backwards.

O'Needham and Uday, would suggest you find another club to follow if the season is that bad for you. I hope Lee and the team win the play-offs now, you will then be singing their praises of course.

And even if we do not win, let Lee tweak the team a little and we will be there again next season.

WHY CALL FOR HIS HEAD???

I didn't think it was heartless or passionless. Tough derby game where either team could have snatched it.

We have no divine right to exist in the league above. Where we are in the conference North is accurate. We may be in this league for a few seasons yet or if we go up, straight back down. Sinnott or no Sinnott.

I think that's entirely negative. Alfreton? Gateshead? Nuneaton? Halifax? Braintree? I fail to see why we couldn't hold on quite comfortably if we put our mind to it. We've been bbrainwashed a bit.

Because I find your postings entirely negative and not enjoyable to read. And also because even when the team plays positively, you still fill the screen with your rantings.

I am very sorry if you find my posting offensive, but I am sure Lee and the team would as well, as with many other fans responses as well as mine. I have a more balanced and realistic view as I have seen all the good times and bad times; please also bear in mind I have also been watching this club now for nearly 40 years and there is very little I do not know about the team and the work that goes on behind the scenes. I know you are entitled to a rant, but I would also like to hear some positives from you as well when the occasions arise, more often than you would give credit for. The team play honest good entertaining football, and very much reflect the club and it's volunteers who work hard and probrably wonder why they do it when reading your postings.

As with Ecky whose postings I also like reading, I like to make my postings more positive, intelligent without being arrogant, but at least hopefully enjoyable to read.

So, sorry about my remarks, but please try to see the good in this club, as well as the hard work behind the scenes. Also a team that does not play hoof-ball, but persists in playing the game the way it should be played. If you at least try and be more positive, at least you will not get so much criticism and people will not think you may be a Vics fan, rather than a fan of 25 years!

Anybody calling for the managers head when you're staring at a playoff spot is cracked in the bonce. This season has at most five games to go - back Lee, back the players, back the club.

NFU, Telford etc will be going into the playoffs 100% united - we need to be doing exactly the same (assuming we get in them).

Should have gone for it last night, we were too cautious. Lee should have changed things earlier, Rodgers was so poor, wilkinson should have been on at half time. Look past the fact there was a big crowd etc, Stockport are dross and we should have won.

Steve from Sale-Boshell was on the bench alot because Sinnott is totally clueless!! I can't comment on last night as I wasn't there but we've dropped alot of silly points against mid table teams this season.

I'd imagine once Boshell had expressed a desire to leave the club he wasn't a first choice pick. Half time against Guiseley he spent more time talking to the Guiseley subs than warming up. I wouldn't have even had him in the dressing room.

Everything we should aspire to be like next season.strong, powerful, fast, organised and skillful upfront

Agreed, and using the full width of the pitch.

Two quotes about us from the County messageboard. Which illustrates just how differently one sees ones self, from the way others see us.

I went to see Stalybridge / North Ferriby on Wednesday. I stayed in the same place all game so first half I got all the grumbling NFU fans, and second half all the grumbling Celtic fans. Guess what? They were exactly the same grumbles from both sets of supporters you hear on the terraces at Moss Lane.

The main disappointment for me is that we have had the players to win this poor league but we have not had the knowhow to win enough games. Only winning the play-offs will make it  a successful season.

Couldn't agree more.

Plenty of effort but very little quality on display from both sides at Edgeley Park last evening.

Still shaking my head at that dreadful eleventh hour miss from Reeves.

Good to hear that Norman Collier had been resurrected and then given the job as County's PA system announcer, anyhow.

You could make a case for Richman coming on, but Wilkinson!

Uday, wasnt meaning to be patronising. The 2 books i have for you - one is the beautiful game, a brilliant book by david conn - read the chapter on crewe alexandra. Then remember that we have same morals and ethics in our club and realise how lucky we are. The 2nd is a book written by journalist ian ridley about his time as chairman of weymouth football club. Its a good reminder that these are part time lads, that nothing is predictable, and that not every one in the non league game has best interests of their club at heart. When we win the play off final in 3 weeks i will give u both books to enjoy over the summer. If we lose in play off semi i will post the booby prize of robbie savages autobiography to your home in northwich (comedy, just banter). Keep the faith. Conf prem in 3 weeks  ps the higginbotham signing made noboby a laughing stock. Incidentally danny is such a top man that he texted me from his holiday on tuesday to find out the latest score from oxford city. He wanted to end his career winning us promotion but his body had other ideas. Thats football.

Those first two books you mention are essential reading for football fans, particularly at this level. The chapter in David Conn's book about Crewe contrasts tellingly with the chapters about Bury and Bradford City. Floodlit Dreams by Ian Ridley is a huge eye opener as to all the things that go on behind the scenes.

What you see on the pitch is a fraction of what happens at a football club and these books are proof of that.

I bumped into Ian Ridley at a non Alty game at St Alban's City several years ago, he had just parted company fairly acrimoniously with Weymouth and was very open about their prospects or lack of them. He was certainly right, a very knowledgeable football man with football at all levels in his heart. Mr Claridge wasn't his best pal clearly.

Did anyone else notice that last night, other than once, Havern didnt come up for corners?

In fact, we only ever had 4 or 5 up for corners at anyone time.

I did think it was strange especially because we got to the ball first on every occasion when it was put in but didnt have the numbers up to pick up the second ball.

I think Leather & Havern took turns going forward due to county leaving 3 players up front when we had a corner, in complete contrast to us when we
had every player back defending corners.

So, we've gone to Stockport County to play them in the league, and we're in various stages of pissed off because we didn't win.

Stockport County away. Expected to win.

Alty playing in front of nearly 4,000 and expected to win. How cool is that?

What a great motivation for the players ... win the play offs and experience this every month.

Come on Alty.

With staylebridge winning about 1 game in 15 it's  no surprise that some grumbling from their fans

We are drawing, we need a goal from a player off the bench, who is more likely to score? Richman ( 3 goals in 33) or wilkinson (5 in 13) ?

Wilkinson is a good central attacking midfielder, but unfortunately we haven't seen him given an extended run in the team in his favoured position.

I also think wilkinson could be a good player for us but he needs a decent player with him who is either tough or intelligent
