i am absolutely gobsmacked by this.

Just for Mad-dog to finish this is an achievement but to speed up half way round is incredible.
C'mon Mark we love ya man!
F***ING LEGEND OR WHAT?
-
Delighted to say I managed to see Mark when he ran through Woolwich earlier. The man is a hero and an inspiration. Well done Mads, we're all truly proud of you!
-
great effort from Mark,as a long distance runner over 4 hrs is a hell of a time to be running for.2 of my marathons were over 4 hours due to injury so i do now the effort he is putting in.Once again well done, only another 12k to go.
-
I managed to take this photo as Mark ran past - sorry it's not the best but I was trying to give him a big clap and a cheer so the photo was taken in a bit of a hurry!

Still going strong 5 hours in.
And on a side note, nice to see Foz getting in on the picture
-
Just read this thread and the BBC article and just burst into tears.
I wish I had even half the guts, character and personality of this great man.
-
Am I alone in that that every mention of what Mark Maddox is doing today makes me come over all emotional?
How can someone be so brave and selfless under such dreadful circumstances?
I just feel inadequate.

I think that applies to lots of us.

Just hit the 40K mark, home straight.
ATS hit the nail on the head. There aren't enough superlatives to describe that man.
-
Just over 2k to go. Is it still on the telly anywhere? - would love to see him cross the finishing line
-
I can't find it anywhere at all. The man is a true inspiration. I can't describe what i'm feeling right now.

May I please make a suggestion that before our home game against Halifax we have a minutes applause before kick off to celebrate this fantastic achievement.
-
The thread is entitled "that man"
I would like to add a lot many many comments but I can't find the words!
Other than " has made me cry"

Yes, never have a felt so humbled.
And please forward this threat to MadDog. I know he knows how much we love him, but this might show even more the high regard we show him.
-
I echo the request to show him this thread....superb achievement we all love you so much Mad-dog!!!
I also echo the request to give all alty fans a chance to applaud Mark but suggest to give him the biggest audience make it at the play off semi and inspire the lads to victory as no-one is more inspirational than Mark!

Be great if someone organised this! Along with the applause, everyone can hear Mark Maddox chants from the terraces!

We have those photos behind the bar "pride" etc.. and those on the wall such as the Nicky v Burnley one
I think we should have one of Mark finishing the race entitled "Determination"

Guts, character, humility, bravery...

Truly unbelievable. HUGE respect.
-
Utterly incredible.
-
I hope the club rename the pop side in his honour.
The Mark Maddox Stand would be a fitting tribute to the man.
-
Mark, you are an inspiration to all of us mate.

Splendid idea.
It would be marvellous to see Mark back at Moss Lane so that we can honour his superhuman achievement in completing the London Marathon.
An extraordinary feat accomplished by an extraordinary individual.
-
reading this thread (and the BBC link) with tears in my eyes. Amazing guy!
-
He has also raised nearly five grand for his effort Outstanding man http://www.justgiving.com/Mark-Maddox
-
Amazing man well done
-
As someone who struggled round the course of the New Forest Marathon a few years ago, I remember just how hard it was, Mark Maddox deserves all the plaudits coming his way and more. Some very good stuff on this thread and I like the idea of some kind of permanent tribute to him at Moss Lane or him being introduced to the crowd before our Play Off Semi Final. Legend.

Well done Mark an incredible achievement. What a man!
-
Brilliant achievement, well done.
-
Make him guest of honour next Sat for our last League game (apart from playoffs) and name the poplular side after him as previously suggested in this thread.
-
a top achievement by a top bloke, well done mad dog
-
Just back from watching Duncan's older brother complete the course - and it was amazing experience - it was hard for all the fit young people given the heat - I have no idea how Mark did it - the inner strength to overcome the physical challenge must be immense - total respect for the guy
-
great achievement mark !
-
I always thought he was inspirational on the pitch, but what he has achieved today is utterly amazing. What a truly incredible man.
-
What a star well done mad dog ;D

I think the best tribute to Mark Maddox is for us to win the play-offs and emulate the 2005 squad.
-
I think this tweet sums it up
Im begining to think #MND is suffering from mark maddox after today..#hero. @lastofadying1 #f**kMND
-
watch @GranadaReports this evening NORTH WEST to see our local hero Mark Maddox @latofadying1 talking about #mnd and @LondonMarathon
-
Just watched a recording of the report - now blubbing! The part of the report where it was said MND will kill Mark just hit me like a hammer.
I'm off work cos I just can't cope with my own issues at the things at the moment -0 and here's Mark thinking about all those he can help.
