Radio Robins is delighted to advise that John Helm has accepted an invitation to be part of the commentary team at The Horsfall Stadium for our game at Bradford Park Avenue on Wednesday night.
The former ITV commentator is a veteran of four World Cup Finals & is a lifelong fan of Bradford Park Avenue.His most traumatic broadcast took place in 1985 when he witnessed & reported on the Bradford fire tragedy, in which 56 people lost their lives at Bradford City's Valley Parade ground.
I believe that I am correct in saying that tomorrow will not be the first time that John has commentated on an Altrincham game as I am fairly sure that he covered a game on Wire TV in 1995 between Telford United & Altrincham at The Bucks Head.

Always liked Helm. I remember him commentating on a Roses match when Granada & YTV used to broadcast them and saying that Clive Lloyd looked more like Paddington Bear every time he saw him! Great comment.

Now that's an odd thing cos I was just talking about that today - it mush be what 10-15 years ago?
I am sure BPA had a hand in arranging Mr. Helm but it is damn impressive.
