Title: BPA or FCUM to Join us Next Year
Post by: RageAgainstTheFirstTeam on April 28, 2012, 06:15:41 PM
Hoping it's BPA to be honest, FCUM only got in to the play offs through the Vics situation, and they'll inevitably do a festive double over us!  >:(

Much rather have a proper non league club like Bradford.

No doubt it will be FC Tedious of Gigg Lane.........  :(

Point taken and understood even if they are in fact ex-league!  ;)

And Witton beat Curzon Ashton 3-0 to make it up to the Evostik Premier and above Vics now of course.

The connection betwen the club that folded back in 1970 and the present one formed in 1988 is at best tenuous. Think Accrington Stanley, only more so. Proper non-league club in my book.

Would probably get a bigger gate for FCUM, but would prefer BPA.

Could it be Chester for the festive double? Assume Droylesden and Staly will play each other.

Could it be in FCUM's long term interests NOT to come up this time given their club ethos of doing it right?

Let's assume Workington will play Darlington. If Bradford come up, they'll play Harrogate. Halifax would play Guiseley if NEITHER of them win the play-offs (and I fancy Nuneaton !). If those scenarios ALL fall into place, Droylsden would indeed play Stalybridge. But I suspect Colwyn Bay would get Chester, leaving us with Vauxhall bloody Motors  >:(

I fancy gainsborough for play offs

I think FCUM will probably come up to be honest, and if not this year then next. Probably be a bit nauseating seeing them at Moss Lane but it is what it is and I'm sure we're not in a position to turn down the probable 1,800 attendance and gate money we'd get from the fixture.

Just not at Christmas please.

Maybe we'll choose to play Chester at Christmas now?

Vauxhall or Colwyn Bay are both more likely to get them at Christmas. I bet we get them on a Tuesday night.

whats the fascination with who we play at christmas?

Droylsden was fine

Surely we want Chester or FCUM (if they get promoted) playing them early in the season would be best?

Christmas fixtures tend to attract better crowds. If the percentage of away supporters is increased by say 10% for these games, we want an extra hundred from Chester rather than three men and a dog from Droylsden.

We would get a bigger crowd against Chester on August bank holiday than at Christmas (and any additional police costs etc would be a lot less)

I am sure Colwyn Bay's derbies will be against Chester.
I remember going for a trial for Cheshire at RAF Sealand when I was kid and they pointed out to me that the next field was in Wales. Initially I was disappointed not to get picked having got right through the trial, but that disappointment lifted after it took the bus 2 hours to get back to Alty and the thought of that journey for every home game!

To return to the original point of the thread - please let it be Bradford PA, a proper non-League club, rather than soon-to-be Moston United.

Have to say a bit confused by all this, as leagues move up and down, you play who you play. As cup draws are made, you play who you are put against. Whoever we play next year, crowds or otherwise, it should be in our hands, lets just get behind Alty, Lee, the players and look forward to a promotion place next season.

Can someone answer me a question ?

The final BSBN league table on both the website and Sky Sports shows three teams being relegated from the BSB North (and South in the case of Sky)

All I have seen is Chester being promoted as Champions and the play off winners (Bradford PA or FCUM) coming up ?

Is the number of teams in the BSB North & South being reduced next season or have I missed something ?

They will be joined by the most northerly promoted team from the Southern league or Rymans league. Possibly Brackley will be a contender as they are in Northamptonshire - not too far from Kettering.

2 each come up from Evostik North and South plus 2 from Ryman's League,

The Southern Premier League has yet to finish as it seems Bedford City vs AFC Totton was rained off on the last day so they're playing tomorrow. Brackley Town won it and Oxford City, Chesham United and Cambridge City are all in the play offs with the last place to be decided.

Presumably no one from the Isthmian is going to get anywhere near the Conference North.

So the southern jessies get 4 up and us northerners only get two ?

Typical !

Thanks for the response anyway

For Xmas fixtures I want Macc or Vics.

As we can't have either of them at the moment then it barely matters.

Although for the record I'd like to play Droylsden away when there is actualy some public transport available  >:(

Remember that Evostik South is a league that includes Midlands clubs. Brackley will definitely be in our league next term. If Cambridge City (or Stourbridge who could still qualify) win the play offs we get to wave bye-bye to Bishops Stortford.

The problem would be nicely rectified if four Northern clubs went down from BSP next year  ;)
