Another big game no show, not scored in the FA cup for 3 years, bottled it again, like we do every time we have a pressure game.......
-
I can't comment directly on our performance. However, there can be no excuses - home draw with a bit of local interest thrown in for good measure. Even listening on Radio Robins it was obvious Witton wanted it more than us.
So disappointed.
-
we just had to turn up didnt we ?
-
what's the prize money for this round? 4,000?
Players should write out 4000 times "We must do better in the FA cup, our fans deserve better"
-
Black and red shirt taken off at thee club abd put in the car boot to embarresed to wear it. I don't normally slag off the team but that xxxx
-
Cowards is very harsh. Witton had everyone behind the ball second half and Altrincham's pretty passing play just gave the ball away too often. Why take three touches when one would do? Why try to beat the same defender twice? This is the first game i've seen since going to Solihull and it strikes me that Altrincham cannot play against teams that crowd the last third and tackle two on one.
Even better day for Witton. Northwich lost at home to Nantwich. Maybe both teams were playing in green.
-
Utterly embarrassing, heartless performance. The worst thing is none of the players appeared to care, at least outwardly.
-
They are cowards, they all hide whenever the heat is on.Who on the park today was talking, organising or geeing them up, no one.
-
What's the problem with big games? What is it our players don't like about them?
Today was absolute turgid sh*te from everyone of them. We could have played until six o clock and not scored.
No doubt the manager will get it in the neck but he put out the same side that played so well at colywn and home to worcs and Nuneaton
There is no in between. We are either really good and purring or look like we have never met
And why we couldn't even take a free kick or corner was scandalous
Everyone if those that played should be ashamed
-
I saw the Worcester game. They were absolute crap second half and got hammered. I can only assume Colwyn Bay were awful to lose 6-1. Thumping teams that leave the door open is not an indication of how good you are, it's an indication of how bad they are. Coming back to win this one 2-1 in the second half would have shown how good Altrincham could be but unfortunately they lacked the ideas or application to do it.
-
What came across in the commentary today was a lack of any sort of counter plan. Don't forget that Witton came to play a certain way - hence the yellow cards - and succeeded. They seemed to have done their homework and put their plan into place to perfection, but Alty had Plan A, which they executed poorly, and had no plan B. Do you put that down to the manager or the players? Or were they just expecting to win by going onto the prk and were unable to find a 2nd gear
-
I'm not his greatest fan,but we desperately missed Lawton today.Didn't seem to be any leadership on the pitch and taking the game by the sruff of the neck.Too many watched the game pass by!!
-
i dont like slagging alty , but todays game was the worst game of football ive seen since we lost to accrington stanley in the cup a few years back , couldnt pass the ball , couldnt do throw ins, no guile no imagination an embaressment to the game that we all love , forget what league they are in the deserved it , we were utter crap

100% agree, no leadership, who is geeing them up?
-
How can we have a plan B when we can't even fill the subs bench?? You can only work with the tools you've got....
-
Lawton did more shouting from the side of the tunnel than any of them on the pitch.
When the going gets tough most of them hide.
-
You have to congratulate Witton for putting in an excellent performance today and deservedly taking the spoils.
However I thought our players were a disgrace to the shirt, and it would be unfair to single out individuals for a collective performance that lacked pretty much everything needed to win a cup tie!
There was no passion, no heart, no stomach for a battle, and absolutely no leadership.
As for next weekend, I am sorry but at the moment and for the first time ever, we will be missing the match by choice and will probably take the camper and be in Wales somewhere.

The last few monthss have made me wonder why Graham Heathcote got the sack.

The last few monthss have made me wonder why Graham Heathcote got the sack.
Is it that bad?
We are still unbeaten at home in the league and we are rising up the table. We were utter crap today but the FA cup is always different to the any other match. Had this game been a Tuesday night senior cup match we might have won with a half strength side. It's a case of a so-called bigger team going to sleep and getting caught by the underdog who wanted it more.
Having said that we have had a tendancy this season to either be great or a complete disgrace to football. Unfortunately, today was the latter.

I will get slated but he got sacked because football fans are very fickle
I had to go for a five mile run after the game before posting
So so disapointed today- all that potential money gone- Witton deserved it and wanted it more- good luck to them
At least we can concentrate on mid table mediocraty now
We are just hot and cold every week

Sounds like there were 1 or 2 tools out there.
Good comment about the subs; should have had a couple of youth players to make up the 7.

I thought this too at first but that manager question session last year suggested it was the right decision in the end
-
We sacked Graham and got relegated anyway, and we got knocked out of the FA Cup at the first hurdle again. I'm quite sure Graham Heathcote could have got us to tenth in the Conference North. I'm saying he should come back, or that Lee Sinott won't eventually take us higher, but at the moment it seems that it didn't actually make any difference.
-
Did you attend that fans meeting just prior to Graham Heathcotes departure? That why he went, and we didn't get rid of him, was it not a mutual agreement?
-
The point i'm making is that it didnt make any difference, i'm not debating his method of departure.

Posted to inflame an already inflamed situation. Time warp once again
-
I got worried in the first minute today - it was obvious Witton wanted it more - they started with a lot of energy, lots of closing down, harrying ... and our passing went down the toilet.
Witton did a good job on us, they were far more physical, to the point that if they hadn't subbed their yellow carded players there's no way they would have finished with 11 on the pitch.
Too many Alty players had an off day, their attitude just seemed to be: 'meh'
Similar to the abject dross in the cup exit to Gateshead last year under McKenna.
Very disappointing.

Bernard was there today, we should ask him back as the last man to deliver us a title
-
The first 20 minutes set the tone. Never showd up, the goal was a rare Lees error and we chased the game.
As for cowards/no shows then yeah are best palyers never turned up.
Hurt, humilitaed yes, I love the FA cup.
On a even more sh*tter note there's an agent hoping to sign Reeves for County within the wek.

He is the same agent who is trying to tout him to everyone and the same bloke who was the Wrexham scout. Sounds like a bit of a chancer to be honest.
-
Does the layer himself know thus guy is touting him to numerous clubs? I'm nit being funny like, but wasn't he here watching h for Wrexham the other week? Is he a scOut or an agent or both it neither? I'm sure the player/club should be made aware if someone is trying to peddle our contracted players??
-
Perhaps he is simply a Secret Agent!
-
abject.
not one leader out there today. not one player who thought about the game or why else did they put high balls in all day for their tall defenders to mop up.
that was a chronic displey from minute one. it was humiliating.
congrats to Witton - had a plan and we didn't even bother.
ABJECT, UTTERLY ABJECT PERFORMANCE.

Big LOL
Well done Witton ;D

And Nantwich....

Every player in an Alty shirt were terrible yesterday, except Stu who probably had one of his quietest Moss Lane afternoons for some time.I become concerned about the harmony in the the dressing room because was it only me who saw Densmore and Reeves pushing each other and have a right verbal go at each other also.I have noticed these two having a go in previous matches as well,I hate to see that sort of thing from players wearing the Alty colours and I think that if there is not a good team spirit then we will continue to struggle. The sort of thing that I saw yesterday between two of our players that I do like, needs sorting out quickly by the manager.
-
Why is it everytime we have a stinker, the name of Heathcote gets mentioned, He basically went because he wanted to go.
He didnt fill the fans with over confidence at the fans meeting shortly before he did depart, we have to stop looking back at what has gone before and look forward in the hope that things will get better.
What next? Dennis Birch for manager !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
half the team were in the bar area watching liverpool and everton half an hour before kick off i have news for you altrincham we no longer get easy games we are an easy game

Because there is probably a section of support that still want GH as manager. I am one of those that will look forward and still believes that despite yesterdays disaster (for which Sinnott must shoulder some of the blame) our new manager is 100% right for the job

Thats not true, there were a few but they left an hour before kick off
-
I feel sorry for GR and the rest of the board. They do a great job under difficult circumstances and yesterday was a chance to relieve a bit of pressure on the budget. They must feel totally let down by the players.
-
Twiss looked devastated at the final whistle.. I think we believed we could have a great cup run this year to round off his career.
I'm not going to moan about the players. however we seems to struggle against inferior teams but dominate those around us and above.
Damned frustrating!
I think the manager bears alot of the blame here.. Nciky Clee was knackered by 70 mins, he stopped taking them on just checked in crosses and shot too soon.
When I recall to spirit with we we played (and lost) at Oxford a couple of years ago with 10 men (despite losing) I was proud of them.. the manager is there to ensure they are organized AND MOTIVATED. There is obviously something wrong in this area when we are expected to win....
-
When he tweeted #getting_a_move last week regarding his second half goals against nunny thought something might have been going on, if he does go we're f**ked, not that i'd blame him after saturdays shambles.

No player is irreplaceable. But Mulholland isn't the answer, so it would need to be a loan until we can identify a decent replacement. On the upside, he's probably one of the bigger earners, so it would free up some funds. Still prefer to keep him though !

I would put forward a counter argument
I have no problem whatsoever, when we are losing and playing badly, if two players get ratty with each other.
Despite some of the postings on here it was obvious that at least some of the players cared very much today.
I have never seen Nicky Clee overhit every corner and underhit every cross like he did today. Must admit that I am at a loss to understand why his being tired is the fault of the Manager but hey ho!
Witton deserve much credit just as we did in the days when we were beating League sides. We have no divine right to beat Witton who played better than us on the day.

Please tell me this isn't true?
The only players I would make an exception for is Lawton and Richman

Of course it wasn't true. The players were well into the warm up routine at 2:25 when I arrived.
Lets not make a bad day worse.

How do you know this as you weren't at the game....... You were told it as a joke about 3 hours later in the Brickies by an Alty fan
