I wouldn't say Williams was a hoofer, in fact if he had done more hoofing instead of trying to pass it out we might have done a bit better.

I'm just glad to see the back of Jones to be honest.

Williams will be OK in this league, never be a Conference defender but I am sure can do a job for us.

Welcome back rob, you felt the pain of the eastbourne game last season, you know how much it means to us to be in the conference, hopefully u might grab more goals from corners in this league  ;) good luck

I thought Jones was the best signing we'd make, how wrong I was.

Getting Williams back doesn't fill me with any confidence. Let's  hope I'm wrong again.

That doen't worry me at all, the fact he has been let go despite being a starter shows we are not afraid to bin people off... I'm sure yourself has mentioned in the past about managers unfazed loyalty to players.

surely you should be praising the swift action.

Thats out of order V of D.  Everyone I spoke to was delighted we had secured Jones, as was I.

Fair play to him for not being pig headed and sticking with him.

Title: Re: One goes....one returns!

So, what has gone wrong then?

It's the difference between playing friendlies and real games.  Under no pressure and playing almost for fun against half arsed players is different to the Conference North.

In a friendly he marshalled Craig Bellamy out of the game.

In the league he'd have been outpaced by David Bellamy.

I think quite simply it's a season to far for him, been a great player whenever I have seen him but every player has that point when it starts to slip.

Well done to Lee Sinnott for taking decisive action now. He signed a player in Jones who looked like a world beating defender in pre-season. Hindsight is a wonderful thing but hopefully things will start to improve from here onwards.

Williams is coming back here with a point to prove. Let's at least give the lad a chance.

On a personal note I'm sorry things didn't work out with Paul Jones. We've all seen in the past what a good player he's been for Barrow and I'm sure he's as gutted as anyone at the way things have turned out.

A brave move by Sinnot.  Maybe a bit of a gamble.
I think  Williams will be better suited to this level, and hopefully after the disappointment of last season, he will be hungry enough, wiser and determined to show he can display that consistancy and commitment to this club.
I hope he will repay that faith the club has put in him.

Correct, a swift decisive decision, now can we give sinnott some credit, honestly damned if you do damned if you don't

Jones was going to be another Joseph, Tinson, Munroe.... who turned in that many disastrous performances early on we'd be praising him for not playing badly, instead of being great.

Best for all sides.

I'm more worried that we have been drawn into a false sense of security 2 years on the bounce after pre-season. I hope things do improve from now on because if they don't I'm not liking where we could be in five weeks.

Williams is better than Jones.

He was so shaky it was untrue, he'd get turned far too easy.

Well done Sinnot for taking action now, rather than let it roll on.

I think perhaps we are loaning a) as for now it's all we can afford and b) a decent cup run by using these players can increase the squad
Plus they're month loans whilst lee is looking for something more permanent

I'm afraid we've exchanged a player who used to be very good indeed at a higher level but has seen one season too many for one who has demonstrated he can only perform when chaperoned by a knowledgeable central defensive partner and who is probably only coming here for a month to REGAIN the fitness necessary to do a semi-decent job (for Telford).

Don't know whether to laugh or cry. (Probably the latter)

Don't forget Lee was a centre half. so must know what's right or wrong about our current defensive problems. Therefore the oak tree has been conquered.

Robbie was told 3 weeks ago that telford dont want him, so maybe the loan is just for Lee to suss out if he's the right man before signing him again,...which we can do in BSN before someone else forgets ;)

Robbie Williams is tied into a 12 month contract with a years option at Telford. I'm sure we would all like to know where you got that info from?
We would surely have to buy him or extend the loan period if the club want to keep him any longer than the 28 day loan period?
Can't see that happening?

That looks like a very accurate synopsis to me.

Shame about Jones, as I initially thought that his experience would be beneficial for us this season, but his sell-by date simply expired whilst we weren't looking.

I'm not reassured at all by the recruitment of Williams, who endured a woeful time last season in a porous defence.

Puzzled that this new management team appear to be looking backwards.
Were there really no other options out there than a somewhat tainted former player?

I sincerely hope that my fears prove to be unfounded.

It does certainly on the surface seem a very lazy signing. By that I mean that we all knew he was available and the club had his phone number.

Bloody Hell !!

You go out for the evening and get back to all this !!

At least I won't keep getting his name wrong anymore on Radio Robins

Although I do fear that the good work Lee Sinnott has instilled in the team about trying to play football from the back may just have taken a step backwards bringing back Robbie Williams (or should that be Gary Barlow?)

Bring back Paul Burton !!  ;)   ;)    ;)

Only just seen this - Have to say I am totally underwhelmed..

Williams was awful last season and didn't hesitate to move on (I know it was a level above and all that!) He's been injured pre season, but Telford clearly have seen him for what he is. Jones was awful, but Robbie does not play football from the back, he doesn't even hoof it, his right foot is more like a Pitching wedge!

At the end of the day you can shine sh*t, but it will still be sh*t!

I hope i'm proved wrong....

Disappointed this morning....

f***ing hell will we fans never learn?

No-one was clever enough to spot in pre season that Jones would struggle....in fact everyone was saying well done Lee...good signing...now everyone has the benefit of hindsight and slagged jones off to the extent he probably wouldn't want to play football again (have we forgotten the lessons of Mr Josef last year everyone????).....everyone demanded Lee did something and he has.....Robbie in my view is an alty player who plays with heart and I applaud Lee for making this switch.....those saying sh*t for sh*t deserve williams to suffer such a confidence lapse by this alone he heads in two own goals on saturday and costs us the match.....those showing a bit of goodwill deserve williams to give us a last minute winner..

get behind them FFS lads and remember that players can be sh*t for a few games and then suddenly become world class and we are all eating humble pie.......I'll bet jones plays against us at some stage and plays a blinder!

For me, we gave Twiss a clean slate following last seasons efforts, so we should do the same for Robbie. Yes, he was poor last season, but now has the chance to redeem himself. His 1st season at the club he did well with an experienced centre half with him. Hopefully he can do the same with Lees/Flynn and we can stop letting goals in the last few minutes of games.

And well done Lee for making this move. We saw it with Tinson what happens when a player goes a season too far, and unfortunately it has happened with Jones.

Mr Clown, that doesn't make any sense at all? Surely i would rather "hang on" to professionals! Its not a case of me just simple ignoring the comments, because it frustrates me when i casually sign on to see the post review of the games and all i see is several idiotic comments from repeat offenders..... isn't that right Mr Clown?

Its presumption city on here tonight, they have a lot of banter between them those two.  All the talk before hand was that Nicky had better bring his shinpads and it was Nicky who told him to come down and spoke to Lee Sinnott about him.

Its unlikely to upset him calling him Mr Clown...it's a pretty open secret his real name isn't Mr Chow.

oi tunnel vision, look at the bigger picture!!! The difference between remaining in the conference and relegation was one point, one goal? and for a side which is part-time and has been reprived numerous times in the past - i don't think that's too bad?

Sing it Loud!
Sing it Proud!

I for one will be getting behind Robbie. Though he has a tough time last season carrying grampa joseph around with him.

Don't expect him to be match fit and don't expect any instant miracles.

For me, we gave Twiss a clean slate following last seasons efforts, so we should do the same for Robbie. Yes, he was poor last season, but now has the chance to redeem himself.

Whilst I have bemoaned Williams' overall poor performance last season, I have to say that, in his defence, he could never be accused of a lack of commitment.

Twiss, in contrast, simply didn't try at all last season.
