first down the tunnel at the end of games,never went over to the
supporters.Perhaps he may feel more at home at Scouseport.

No it's not...........but forgetting about James Smith for now, consider the following :-

Best players get best money - relegated team has less income - best players have to take a paycut so the club can function at a lower level - best players either stay or leave for pastures new (and better wages) - get it ?

It's even less good when the "best players" can't do enough to keep you out of relegation. A clean(ish) sweep would be no bad thing in the eyes of many here.
