Apparently Piergianni is playing as a wing back so I would say it's 5 at the back.

This sort of ridiculous red card is exactly what we don't need if we are to stay up. We simply haven't got a big enough squad to replace people who get sent of for what basically amounts to childish petulance.

Edit: if the red card was for a professional foul the above is obviously not applicable.

According to my kiddy supporting mate our midfield woke up in the last 15 minutes, we were looking weak at both fullback positions before that. Never a sending off either. "Piergianni walks, penalty saved, justic done" was the exact text.

If your looking straight down a field you can see from 110 yards in a straight if someone has tackled cleanly
Title: Re: Kidderminster Match Thread
Post by: Paul Cain's Chip Pan on February 12, 2011, 03:58:33 PM
All I will say is that if it was a clear injustice, presumably we will appeal the decision and have the red card overturned.

If your at an elevated position, and concentrating on the ball, rather than all thats around you aswell as the ball, then you have a better overview of the incident from the other end in my opinion. Here is a text Ive just recieved from the usually placid mr taylor ( the other one!)

" Ref has ruined the game now, Fantastic tackle from carl.Everyone was applauding it before he blew for a penalty,Our players and management are absolutely up in arms about it.Our heads will drop now, even their fans near us are saying it was a great tackle.Typical conference ref totally startled and then swayed by a very full home end baying for a penalty,f**king disgrace"

If today's referee is, indeed, Mr R J Martin of Weston-super-Mare, then here's a previous assessment of his, ahem, competence:

 Water, water, everywhere...
By Nick Pullen on Apr 30, 08 10:47 AM

I KNOW you shouldn't criticise referees - but what was Mr R J Martin of Weston Super Mare thinking of when he started Halesowen Town's BGB Southern Premier play-off clash with Chippenham Town!
Heavy rain had fallen for some considerable time prior to the kick-off and it was plain to see the pitch was totally unplayable by 7-45 pm as large areas of surface water could be seen on the pitch.
This was made more apparant by the floodlights, where you could see the water shimmering in the reflection.
Nevertheless, Mr Martin, in his wisdom started the game and the farce commenced immediately when Halesowen goalkeeper Mark Osborn went down to smother a regulation through ball and promptly slid betyween 10 to 15 yards, taking the ball out of the area.
Technically, isn't that a handling offence!
With the ball splattering to a halt everytime it hit the surface, it was beyond my comprehension that the ref allowed the game to continue for 32 minutes before coming to his senses and calling a halt.
A check with the weather forecast would have told him that rain was predicted to fall until 11pm - so the situation was only going to get worse - not better.
But that wasn't the best of it. Stuart Pierpoint's header was clearly handled by Chippenham's Ross Adams who prevented it from going into the net.
Penalty and red card is the correct proceedure.
However, it became clear after several minutes of faffing around, that referee Martin had lost sight of who the culprit was.
After consultation with his linesman, Mr Martin duly awarded the penalty, but there was no sign of any card, red or yellow for that matter.
So there's your answer. Any defender who commits a similar crime -run and hide and you'll get away with it!

So what are you playing devils advocate about? The home fans saw a great challenge, the away fans saw a great challenge. The ref has ballsed it up. No arguments on that one.

My advocacy was based on the alleged visual capabilities of fans at the away end.

Now knowing that the home fans share express a similar view my advocacy becomes irrelevant

James Smith sent off

Foul and abusive language.

Edit: I'm guessing the press association just assume all our red cards are for foul & abusive language?

James Smith sent off

Foul and abusive language.

from JL:
Smith sent off after raising arm - ref about to give a yellow then Smith pushed player away and shown red

If Smithy got sent off for violent conduct that's 3 matches (all home games as well!)

I presume Piergianni will serve a one match ban?

Big game on Tuesday night which we now have to play without two important players. The result I can take, but the red cards are highly annoying.

Clearly in the last 2 league games Smithy unsettled, perhaps impact of Stockport interest that didn't ultimately materialise. A time out may get his immediate perspective back in to place.

By all accounts, Smith's indiscipline at Wrexham the other week could easily have resulted in him receiving a red card.

Demoted from the role as captain against Alsager Town in midweek - any connection at all to the aforementioned behaviour?

He really needs to get his act together.

What sticks in my throat the most is Kenny has been trying for months to strengthen our defence by bringing Youngy back. After one game we lose two defenders to suspensions!

I know we find it hard to compete in this league but my god we don't half make it difficult for ourselves at times!

Really angry at the moment.

I'm not to down.

I feared we may get hammered today in a day when all went right for them.

To go two down, then go to ten men but keep on fighting is a good sign.

Of course points make prizes but all we can ask is that we give our best and I think we did that today by what I am told.

Can't comment really on the sendings off but thank God we have Youngy at least.

As as been said not too down about the result but Smith's barmy red card really doesn't help .

From following the posts today I will be suprised if we do not appeal against the first sending off. If we do, would this allow Piergianni to play on Tuesday?

Self selecting back 4 for Tuesday with the sendings-off and Densmore's injury :

Joseph    Williams    Young     Brown

I believe that we'd need the video to clearly and incontrovertibly prove, without even 1% doubt that the decision was wrong if we were to appeal successfully.

I think we could appeal and the ban would then be deferred until after the appeal date but we then run the risk of additional sanction should the FA consider it 'frivolous'

Phil .. Its bloody time some of these referees were videoed because some of them are absolute dross... I have heard the line that they have to learn somewhere etc  but the BSP is not the place.

Forumites on here cannot be wrong all the time, some of them are simply appalling.

Ray

Every Refereeing performance in the BSBP is captured on video. Nobody is saying that this League is the place to learn, it patently isn't

It is understandable that spectators/supporters of any club will pick up on decisions which go against them and this may or may not 'colour' their perception of how capable or otherwise an official may or may not be.

I wasn't at Kiddy today so I cannot comment on any decision made by anyone so I wont but I would venture to suggest that there is nobody anywhere in the world of football, player, manager or official who is entirely faultless.

The higher up the leagues you go the better the officials (honestly) and the less errors they make. As an illustration, it would not be impossible for me to achieve the necessary level to be Assistant Referee at the level we hope not to be playing at next season (BS North)

I can also assure you that poor performance DOES result in demotion. There are two guys who Referee in the BSBP who were removed from the Premiership Line at the end of last season and one who was removed from the Football League middle.

Before I am accused of being one eyed or an apologist, I'm neither. I'm just answering the point you made

According to my kiddy supporting mate our midfield woke up in the last 15 minutes, we were looking weak at both fullback positions before that. Never a sending off either. "Piergianni walks, penalty saved, justic done" was the exact text.

Aberystwyth Kiddy is obviously a bright individual Michael..........bang on.
