I reckon it's that Diego Forlan geezer. He knows the ground and has a point to prove in the Alty area. :D

Phil,
I am sure you know who I am. If you don't, then let me tell you that I have supported this club since 1984.
-
It's at moments like this...a major signing being touted , imaginations run riot and make ludicrous suggestions, knowing full well they're twaddle...on this forum that can spark an acrimonious exchange.
The Alty Fans Forum - kerfeesh.
Think I'll read the Financial Times from now on. It's a lighter, more enjoyable, read.

Tease me tease me tease me till I lose control
-
Twitter on fire with rumours of a big signing about to be made by Altrincham
Shaun Goater (again)
-
I hear that there's a handy player at Guiseley up for grabs - can't quite bring his name to mind but think it's something along the lines of Kris Junior iirc? From what i've heard he's an absolute giant - perfect replacement for Perry on the aerial front.
-
Lutel James. 8)
-
Ian Tunnacliffe.
-
Lutel James. 8)
I was actually pleased when we signed him, briefly.
-
The hype has taken control, if this player is as amazing as being suggested I reckon...
1) Michael Johnson
2) That Bulgarian international who was playing local Sunday League recently
3) Watmore back on loan.
In actuality, it'll probably be a league 2 stalwart who we've never heard of.

Indeed I do. Incidentally I have supported the club since 1968 and "worked" here since 1980

Martin petrov has signed for Cska Sofia, but still retains his house in hale barns unless he's flogged it recently.

Beat you to it :-P

My first thought was Michael Johnson, but Dunc is more realistic.

Mixed emotions if we get Duncan back. Great to see him in an Alty top once more, but he wouldn't be gaining enough at Moss Lane if he is to make the jump into the prem.
I have a gut feeling it's a chap with the initials PS.

Sorry to disappoint but it won't be Duncan. He'll most likely stay with SAFC for the whole season, but if he went on loan it would be L2 club judging by what happened to Billy Knott at Wickham

Surely if Scholes were to play for anyone it would be his favoured club, the Bridge?
-
I think everyone is getting a little carried away maybe a lil to much xmas booze im sure IF we get a new player he will promise loads and be crap happy new year
-
my thoughts were PS, but i just cant see it. I expect it will be someone like Michael Twiss.

Schoes is an Oldham fan born and bred, Colin little had to drop levels to coach at u15's if it's scholes he wouldn't be playing at our level and it would only be home games when we are not clashing with utd. Long shot imo
Michael Johnson is far more believable and last time I saw him I was the slimmer option. He has just been released from his city contract instead of bee in kept on the books though.
Higg is trying to get more and more media exposure, so Chester may be getting irked by him, but they would have to cancel his loan, go back to Sheffield and then get loaned out to us. There is a lot to go wrong.
Dunc has a chance to get a little game time later on in this season as Sunderland look more and more precarious so as his dad says he won't be leaving Sunderland on loan now.
I personally am hoping for faultino asprilla his back flips were rad.

I'd shuffle the formation. Stalybridge keeper up front alongside Asprilla, David Birch in goal.

Danny Higginbotham left Chester today due to media commitments. Some comment on Chester forum that he might join a Conf North club- come on Danny, you know it makes sense!

Isn't he still a Sheffield United player and was on loan at Chester as they are part-time?
I am sure we would welcome him with open arms, but if we go up he would be in the same position with us next season as he is at Chester now.
However he could be the difference between us going up this season or not.
-
It's a myth that he is on loan, he had signed a year's contract with Chester.
-
i have dined out for years on my story .
i told danny higginbottom "to go home your not playing for the bowdon hotel your not good enough", home was about three houses away . on urban road.
you may say that was bad judgment but he was about 7 years old
his brother higgy was our centre forward and he was only 12/13 and went on to play for alty and loads of sh*t welsh clubs. i am sure loads of the teaser age group know them both well.
happy happy days
-
An interesting comment by mr higginbottom on twitter at half time of the united game
-
Why, what did he say?
-
He's been asked a couple of times on twitter if he's going to Alty. His reply was "possibly mate".
Also, Tols is joining in with the teasing: "Another good 3 points, clean sheet and great support as always. Plus, Watch this space!!"
It's sounding promising

Could it be Duncan back

never forgave Paul for scoring against us in the Cheshire senior cup final

Looking at Danny Higginbothams twitter messages (I didn't know you could do 'view only') it's clear to me he's gonna be at Alty. References to not being able to play national and do his media work, wants to play the rest of the season etc. If I were a bookie I'd take no more bets on it being Danny.
-

it looks that way but needs confirming
-
I know we'd all love to see Danny in our Red and White but where does that leave Buzz and Adam Griffin? We have no right wingers and 3 decent left backs! Shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth and all that but if he can't play national level then we presumably need to hold on to Adam for next year and it would be a shame to see Buzz go?
-
A player of Danny's ability can play as a defensive centre mid were we are very weak indeed
-
When the chance of a player of Dannys standard comes up and wants to play for you then you snap his hand off and worry about the other stuff next year.
He can play wherever he needs to play in the Conference North.
What he will bring in terms of motivation and professionalism to the people around him will also be a huge boost.
-
I can see a very flexible arrangement being reached between Alty and Danny with Danny unlikely to be available every week and Alty unlikely to be able to pay him a great deal (if anything). Sitting just in front of the two beasts we presently have at centre back would seem the most logical position for him given our sudden abundance of defenders!!! Hope Buzz doesn't leave, as he is Alty through and through.
-
mainly a centre half nowdays
-
Wasn't doubting the snap his hand off response just wondering what people thought the consequences might be. Means we don't have to rush Williams back from his injury for the playoffs / title push.
-

totally agree ecky my point was he is versatile so have him were we are weakest

agreed Jim, my point was to Bath Alty to say let's not worry about the detail of it, he can fit in many places.
I would also have him running the show from in front of the back four.

I don't agree with that, he will have to be committed and available to play every week
-
Re committed and Available to play every week - Rod Thornley
-
Any sense and if he still has the legs which I am sure he has at this rubbish level then in front of the back 4 like Boshell, alongside moult which will allow moult to go furtherf forward which is his best position and richman out wide! Moult is capable of scoring a few! Really would like to see reeves and walshaw back together!

Best post of the whole thread.
You can't look a gift horse in the mouth so wherever he plays he will bring invaluable experience and, like Ecky says, having in the dressing room alone will be amazing.
As he can't commit to Conf National I guess we'll be waving him goodbye once we've won this league though ;)
-
May I be the first to say Higgy out?
-
May I be the first to say Higgy out?
People like you bring this forum down.
I believe he is currently playing centre mid as captain for Chester (or was). He can play in midfield no problem, leaving the current back 4 as they are. Moult and Higgy in middle with Richman right and Clee left. Reeves and Walshaw up front for me, BUT Perry has been playing very well and linking well with Reeves, so my mind is not made up about the front pairing now as long as we can keep all three happy.
We can win this league if everyone pulls together, and get back to playing the sheep shaggers on Boxing Day.
-
Give him the armband, and put him in front of the back four. He's always said he would come to Moss Lane. Experience, commitment.....what more could we ask ?

When Danny was about 9-11 I used to play football with him on Stanny Park in the shadows of Moss Lane.
He was so good that he used to put himself in nets to make a game of things and he was still unbeatable then. He would go round everyone for fun, then do it again and you couldn't even kick him.
It was always a case of "right, we've got first pick, Danny!"
If this comes off it will be one of football great stories.
The last bloke to do it, Colin someone didn't make a bad job of ending his career at Alty.

No but in addition to being a big Alty fan he's the top man at R5 Live where Higinbotham has done a fair bit of media work recently so I assume that is how he knows this stuff.
