Dreadful injury to a woodley player, career ending broken leg.Nothing malicious, just a freak accident, both sets of players didnt want to carry on,understandably.

Nightmare. What a shame.

Let's hope the lad does make a full recovery.

A horrendous injury to Woodleys Matt Cotton brought the game to an understandably  premature ending.. Good luck and best wishes with your recovery lad.

On the bright side it was good to see Alty playing again and also to see and chat to the fans and staff after 11 long weeks ....

I was pleasantly surprised at the fitness levels of quite a few of the lads, especially Rob Lawton and Chris Denham and Robbie Williams.

I am looking forward to seeing Twiss Reeves and Johnson once they have built up an understanding with each other (Dale didnt play today but hopefully we will get to see him at Nantwich next Saturday)

Woodley have a decent facility and there chairman kindly invited myself and a couple of other fans into the hospitality suite to show us there plans for the future.

The pies were nice the coffee not bad and other than the sad injury it was a pleasant afternoon out in Cheshire for the Sant family.  Cmon Alty

Early reports indicate that Matt Cotton sustained 2 fractures to both Tib & Fib’s and will undergo surgery at Stepping Hill Hospital.

Here's hoping the lad makes a full and speedy recovery.

Our very tall centre back trialist showed a few good touches in the second half (albeit hard to make a judgement after such a short period).

It should be stressed that there was no malice, or foul play involved in this injury. Cotton and Clive Moyo-Modise went for a 50-50 ball and met it simultaneously. Cotton's leg snapped back.

A horrible injury, and I sincerely hope the lad recovers fully from it.

Been thinking further about this today. It would be very much in keeping with our reputation as a club which does things the right way if we were to donate the takings from one of our bucket collections to Matt Cotton. What do others think ?

generally speaking yes.

(Just wonder if we are setting a precedent here that we can't follow later in the season if another player gets badly injured playing against us when there was malice on the opposisiton players behalf)

They could donate the £7 we paid for 60 minutes of early preseason football.

ATS plays Advocate again...well there's a surprise!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Whilst understanding York Alty's point on this what if, malicious or not, the fault were to lie with our player?

For my money I'd say yes we do donate the takings to Matt Cotton in this case as Woodley are probably far less able to 'look after' a player than many of the teams we will meet in the League this coming season
