Title: Dorking (H) - Match Thread
Post by: MarpleAlty on October 17, 2023, 09:42:40 AM
I don't think it's time to 'chuck the baby out with the bathwater' just yet - plus it's hardly like we have alternative options to come in:

               Ross
Banks  Cooper  Baines  E.Jones
      Marriott(c)  Osborne
Amaluzor  Conn-Clarke  Newby
               Angus

As disappointing as Dior Angus was on Saturday, I don't think it's time to rotate him out just yet - but I suspect that's where others might disagree with me and bring Sithole in.

I would go with the above, don't think Sithole is fit eough to start based upon what Parky said yesterday on Pastries, though he is looking at bringing a player in or two. Kosylo looks 2 weeks away and Linney further still. Joey apparently not back till late Dec.

Same lineup for me, Sithole won’t be fit just yet, use him as a sub by all means.. the rest of the team I would leave well alone for now.

Alty 3 -1 Dorking.

All of Friday and Saturday morning looking dry at the moment, so the pitch should have some decent recovery time too.

Same starting 11. Just need to be more clinical in front of goal .

Alty 3-2 Dorking

Are we expecting Justin Donawa back?

Are we expecting Justin Donawa back?

Well I am! Having said that, would you rush back from the sunny Caribbean? 😊

I think they're playing again tonight.

Might be making up, but I'm sure I read somewhere that he'd be given the appropriate resting time afterwards - so maybe an introduction from the bench on Saturday.

He was withdrawn after 64 minutes of their 1-0 win in Belize on Saturday, and played the full game in last night's return fixture which ended 1-1.

It should be noted that they have two more games on the 17th and 21st November, so it's possible we could lose him for our visit to Eastleigh, and the home game with Rochdale. If we're looking to rearrange a game for our blank Saturday on November 4th I'd be looking closely at that Rochdale match!

That's why I'm usually inclined just to get the games played - missing a Saturday and then going Saturday-Tuesday-Saturday another time makes no sense to me, and the rest is surely more valuable than whoever we have unavailable, particularly given there will probably be other absences further down the line anyway.

Looks like I spoke far too soon on this  :( absolutely tipping it down here at the moment, and rain expected tomorrow too.

This one could be in doubt now, surely...?

I'd hope our pitch is bulletproof now, we paid enough to make it so.

Let’s hope we don’t embarrass ourselves and PP at lunchtime
When Dorking and there fans are on route.
At this moment in time PP would be the sensible option the rain
Has been relentless and more forecast.

It's only bullet proof to a point, according to data where I live next to the ground, had 14mm of rain in 6 hours, thats a lot and 11mm due in next 24 hours, so backing off. As others say, see how it drains. P-P is a possibility I would imagine.

Sensible decision PP..
with all the rain it’s the only outcome. No pitch can take that much rain.

Will look with interest at nearby L1 and L2 clubs.
Parts of Chesterfield town centre is flooded with cars stranded, but they hope to play

Probably a sensible decision though because pitch could get wrecked for remainder of season, especially with game Tues

Think the Tuesday match might already be questionable 🙄

Weather forecast is a lot better from tomorrow morning, although undoubtedly we will have more rain before Tuesday. With the half term footy for a fiver offer though we definitely need Tuesday on (more so then we would have done tomorrow).

One of the problems with our pitch that the ground staff have to consider is that the pitch is being used far too often due to the agreement with MUFC ladies and other users.

I’m sure if Alty had sole use of the pitch it would possibly be able to recover better.

Chesterfield off.....access issues for locals due to floods and road closures

Such a shame we couldn't get the game on and win it. As the results turned out we'd have moved up to third in the league.
