Released lists around the league
« on: May 05, 2015, 11:29:58 AM »

Some interesting names released from FGR

In particular, Sam Russell the goalkeeper who has played in the North West and would be a great signing for us (although might be a bit ambitious there...)

I'm not so sure - clubs seem to be very swift with their retained/released lists these days and rightly so I think - although I certainly hope you're right and that he has plenty of irons in fires

I'm pretty sure Lee will want to know his budget as early as possible

I actually happen to think he's taking a calculated risk with Cav, for example - seeing what he can get, and then I wouldn't be surprised if he re-signs him if he fails.

I agree with Figgy Pudding. I think that the senior players (Cav, Kyle & Gilly) have already been replaced and it is just a matter of time before we find out. It'll be interesting to find out who the new keeper is, will it be an obvious number 2, or a keeper capable of competing with Stu for the spot?

Makes sense in theory but wouldn't we then be paying two keepers a first-team wage?

I see padraig amond the morecambe striker had been released. He got into double figures for an average League 2 side this season, is based in Manchester

According to his twitter account, "There is no future" for James Walshaw at Harrogate.

We're still awaiting his positive news, aren't we.

Given his gripe is about playing first team football, and given his circumstances, I'd expect him to rock up somewhere like BPA (or back to Guiseley if they 'do a Guiseley' at the weekend).

I'm convinced he'll get a lucrative offer from FC United and have a successful season there.

His overall scoring record isn't great though. Less prolific than Lawrie. I'll pass on this one.

Maybe, but at some point we need to replace Stuart............we cannot keep bringing in players that keep 'failing' (maybe not the correct word) to displace Stuart from the starting line-up on merit as opposed to Stuart being injured
At the same time it would be completely wrong to just release or cut wages to such a loyal servant to the club who will no doubt still give any 'better' keeper a real problem keeping the No1 jersey

So at some point, maybe next season, we are probably going to have to pay two keepers proper money.

As I understand it clubs are now required to announce a retained list within a week of the end of the season.
