BUT WE HAVE TO BEAT GATESHEAD FIRST!
My thoughts exactly. They have the same incentive. Underestimate the Heed at our peril…
We do but the fun of being in the hat is to get prematurely excited (sorry!)
Me too LOL
That kit is superb!
Yeah...was gonna say...we need a retro version of that
Erm, it’s Morecambe’s kit isn’t it?
It is, but it's still rather neat.
Cheered just to see us drawn at home - cheered even more for Charlton. Huge game if we can get past Gateshead.
Geoff Street was a tall central defender and I believe that he made a total of 11 Northern Premier League appearances for Alty during that division's inaugural 1968/69 season.
He joined Alty from Southport and then moved on to Barrow for the 1969/70 season.
He was subsequently a member of Morecambe's 1974 FA Trophy winning team, in which he played alongside the former Macclesfield and Alty midfielder Dave Roberts as well as striker Tony Webber, who went on to sign for the Robins in December 1976.
Some classic 1970s hairstyles on the following photograph (Geoff Street is top left on the second row, standing next to a somewhat cantankerous-looking Dave Roberts. Tony Webber is the one directly behind the ball on the front row):
I don't know if it has already been said, but it was also a really crap, slippy, bobbly surface. He might not be good enough, but I don't think that's the game to judge him one way or the other.
I must say that starting Digie over Sutton is a bizarre decision IMHO.
2 well taken goals from us
