 Sorry its not a footy thread but I have to say how chuffed I am to see AP McCoy win Sports Personality of the Year
What that fella has put his body through over the years in the name of sport is fantastic.

Well obviously the horses had something to do with it but he is the one jockey that can get the extra effort out of a mediocre horse to win with..

all Sportsmen/women have a team around them

I'm sure that  Ryan Giggs wouldnt have won it without the assistance of his team mates

I can understand that people dont agree with it due to there concerns over the horse jumping fences etc but to not call it a sport is a strange assumption.  It is called the Sport of Kings for a start...

I enjoy a bet on the nags but for me a sportsman should be the athlete not a horse guider, have u got any tips dt I might smack a deep sea diver on a donkey today

may i suggest you go to watch a jumps race meeting and experience the speed at which these horses/jockeys travel..

Not a fan of horse racing, but used to work at Ayr racecourse. All those horses charging at speed really does make the ground move! Those wee jockeys do have guts - and they are all really really small and squeeky!

Does that mean most winter sportspeople deserve to win it? How about all those Ice Hockey players? Speed and danger don't/shouldn't be factored in when choosing- it is one sportsperson who has had an exceptional year in his/her field- for achievements, I reckon the top 2 are a fair reflection of this.

Absolutely no races on in the UK today. In the bookies I work at they were only having South African and French on. Dogs were still running though.

Listen, with my dart throwing prowess it doesn't matter how long I've been playing. I'm crap all the time. Perhaps sinking a few pints might be the answer ?
