The ground completely lacks atmosphere as it is the International Stadium and has a running track round the outside so you are miles away from the action. Also they have a mascot dressed with a goats head but in fact he resembles some satanic character from "The Devil Rides Out!".

That aside the locals are always vocal and get behind their team.

the locals aren't a bad set of folk to be honest.  As ever a bit one-eyed when watching their team play but I've never had any issues with Gateshead FC or their fans.

newcastle on the other hand...

Gateshead stadium has it's own tram stop. Here is a map of the Tyne & Wear metro system.
