No surprises in those starting, but 3 players who are best at right-back, on the bench is baffling.
-
Quite a defensive subs bench. Only O'Neill is a forward player - this would have been a good day to put Logan on the bench
-

Depends where on the pitch you have possession of the ball though!
-
"Never seen a save better in my life" Nice one England's No1
-
Stu's save is the "best save I've ever seen in many years of watching football at the Abbey" according to the radio fella
-
Vics 2-1 down
-
"Been a good contest (at Cambridge)" so far
-
Tinson gone off not Shotton according to BBC
-
Tinson gone off not Shotton according to BBC
Sounds more like it, the commentators did say Tinson was injured a while before the substitution.
-
Its tinson who has gone off
-
Stafford 3-0 down.
I think they might slip to obscurity for the rest of the season
-
H/T Lets hope we can score in the second half
-
The commentary suggests we are largely holding our own
Aaron Burns gets an equaliser for Vics. Lets hope someone buys him within the next week! (Or Maamria upsets him!)

Alty "Looked good first half. Decent start 2nd half."
-
Joynes off for Halifax so Vics must fancy their chances
-
and Weymouth have taken the lead: 2-1 up, as Stafford also get a goal back (3-1 down)
-
"2 evenly matched sides," despite owning up to bias!
-
Sounds like Col went close there....come on Alty!
Alty "Look a decent side going forward" come on lads!
-

Alty "Look a decent side going forward" come on lads!
I don't quite know how to cope with this new phenomenon of BBC local radio commentators complimenting Alty's performance.
I'd still prefer for us to be patronised and belittled.....and not losing!

Senior so so close! "All but equalised"
-
Weymouth 2-2
-
Ref being a prat according to (biased) commentators
-
O'Neill to come on for.........Senior
High ball time?
-
Senior so so close! "All but equalised"
Sounds like we are well in this...come on Alty!
-
Is it really just 7 years since I saw Courtney Pitt playing for Pompey in a dismal FA Cup 3rd Round home defeat by Orient? Both parties fortunes have changed a bit since then.
-
They are still talking about Stu's save in the first half

Sounds like he should be escaping from A German prisoner of war camp with Richard Attenborough with a name like that
-
O'Neill to come on for.........Senior
High ball time?
41 seconds after coming on he gave away a foul
-
Battersby (great name for a defender) on for ?
-
O'Neill to come on for.........Senior
Someone hypnotise O'Neill and tell him he's playing at Northwich.....and then he might actually score a goal!
-
On for Young after his collision with the post
-
Sounds like England's No1 having a belter of a game.
-
Lawton hit the bar!!!
-
Come on lads, let's nick a point!! ;)
-
Teams "Laying on a treat"
Another great save by Stu
-
come on Alty, lets get the equaliser
-
Stafford 4-1 down.
Alty deserve a goal in this. "Better oposition by a long way" over Droylsden
-
A bit of luck is what we need!
-
Weymouth now 3-2 down

"The Altrincham performance today has been nothing short of magnificant" says the Cambridge commentators
-
Deflected goal, what a bummer!

"United are fortunate. A lot of respect for Alty."
-
"Respect for Altrincham" amazing
-
Come on lads, it can be a cruel game!
Come on Alty :)
-
"Alty played absolutely brilliantly"
and theres 5 mins stoppage time
-
Just told some of the commentator's comment to Jennifer's mum - there is honestly a tear in my eye
Droylsden win.
-
"Alty played absolutely brilliantly"
and theres 5 mins stoppage time
sorry 5 minutes isn't allowed, we are the ones thet need a goal.
-
Close! Very unlucky Alty.
When biased commentators pile so much praise on your team you know they have done well. Coburn was "Heroic"
-
Very unlucky FT 1-2.....sounds like we deserved at least a point :(
-
Good effort lads - well done.
We keep playing like this and Farsly won't cathc us.
-
Very unlucky lads, great effort.
lets carry that on to the Woking gam :)e
-
Build on this performance for the next game.
Just seen the stats on BBC - sounds like they do not tell the full story. The Grahams must be proud
-
When they go down fighting you dont mind the loss so much and it does make you feel proud, just need a bit of luck now
-
I think we are due our share of luck this season. Put that with the endeavour we have shown recently & things look better than they have been.
Meanwhile:
Vics get a point,
Droylsden win (just)
Stafford stuffed
Weymouth lose
-
Sounded like Alty were the better team for large part of the game and unlucky to lose.
Keep it going and the results will come.
Come on Alty!
-
Well Droylesden won and Vics got a point.
next 3 games are where we need as many points as possibble
Come on Alty
-
Sounded like Alty were the better team for large part of the game and unlucky to lose.
However, it also sounded like Coburn was in magnificent form and kept us in the game.
-
urm ....want that long ago people were saying Stu should be dropped
-
Dropping a goalkeeper can often do more damage than good as a big part of a keepers game is based on confidence and getting dropped would do their confidence no good at all. I posted last week that Stuart seemed to be struggling this season after his back injury last year but he seems to have been back to his best today so hopefully it was just a dip in form and we'll start to see the Stuart Coburn we all know and love as we approach the most important part of the season.
-
I was at the game today with my 5 year old son who has been brainwashed into supporting Alty although we now live 220 miles away from Moss Lane. Stuart pulled off a couple of brilliant saves that kept us in the game - without those it would have been a repeat of the recent game at Oxford. Yes Cambridge were the better team, but Alty played well, there was a lot of good passing and cohesion today, and we kept trying to play football. In all a good performance and with a bit of luck we could have got at least a point. There seemed to be a belief in the team today that although we were 1-0 down for most of the game, we could salvage something. Robbie nearly broke the bar. Performances like today should see us stay up. We should get something against Woking, who are one of the worse teams I have seen this season, but expect them to raise their game for the cameras.

We raised our game at Stevenage for the cameras - we will, I am sure, be doing the same again.
-
just got back and a great performance by the lads today against a solid cambridge team. there 1st goal was a mile off side but then again so was little for our equaliser (which came from some ecellent work by joe on the right, he had a good game when he came on). young's collision with the post made most people cringe it looked very painfull, the ref was a pedantic so and so but arn't they all when you lose. robbies shot hit the bar and bounced on or over the line (was very close and only a brave linno would have given it) there goal came from a shot that stu (who was immense pulling off saves like he was possessed) had covered untill it took the double deflection. but a fantastic game to watch real end to end stuff and any neutrals in the ground would have gone home very pleased. ah well onwards and upwards woking on thursday hopefully get something outof that and be 4pts clear of farsley before they play.
