promotion (worried)
« on: April 17, 2013, 12:03:53 PM »

We have the nucleus of a great team, but i am worried about what will happen if we get promoted.
There are some huge clubs in the premier league.
first question is, " Do we have a big enough squad to survive"?
Second Question, " How much will we have to spend on strengthening the squad"?
(It is believed Cardiff city will have to spend £25 million to survive in the top flight next season).
Third question:  "Will we go full time if we get promoted"?

I hope we do get promoted, but i don't want us getting hammered 5-0 every week either.

Which premier league are you talking about?  :D I don't think we'll have to worry about Cardiff any time soon.
Our squad will need to be strengthened should we make it but remember we do have money from this years cup run and our base budget will also be increased.
I believe this squad is much better than the one that needed to beat relegated Eastbourne on the last day to survive and is as good as one or two others we've had in the National previously but I do think that the Conference Prem has become stronger since  we were in it but......... We definitely won't go full time.

I wouldn't waste any time worrying about what if we get promoted.  There are a lot of hurdles to go yet.

If it happens there are a lot of decisions to be taken by a lot of people and we as fans will have to back it in every way we can.

It will be a lovely problem to have.

We can happily discuss this all summer long but let's get into to POs and of course win them first!

Clearly our manager will have to go. As he will have achieved his target of getting promotion, we will need a continental manager to take us forward to the next level.

Well rafa Benitez will be available but not so sure we have enough players to accommodate his rabid rotation policy!

This is a problem I've wanted to have since that horror show against Eastbourne concluded in April 2011.

I am concerned also and I think the original post raises some issues particularly in relation to Cardiff.

Cardiff have a far superior squad than we do already (just) and if they are spending another £25m, I expect we will need to spend around £75m to catch them up. The problem is I just cant see it happening and we will be non league for years to come.

Our ownly chance may be to sell Watmore for £50m and find some financial backers for the remaining £25m.
