Good half, weve matched them all over the pitch. Sounds like the defensive and central midfield problems are taking a turn for the better. Still another 45 to play, KEEP IT UP REDS.

Title: Re: Match thread
Post by: Sleepy the dwarf on September 02, 2008, 09:06:23 PM
Sounds a bit close for comfort!

Inswinging corner from left by-line taken right-footed by Lanre Oyebanjo (Histon) to far post, header by Jack Midson (Histon) from right side of six-yard box (6 yards), save (with feet) by Stuart Coburn (Altrincham). Shot by Jamie Barker (Histon) volleyed left-footed from left side of penalty area (12 yards), over the bar.

Title: Re: Match thread
Post by: SW on September 02, 2008, 09:41:38 PM
Last season at Histon if we were still playing now we would still be on nil. Same score I know but sounds like we made a fist of it. Another win will come and with it the confidence.

Lots of teams at our level are difficult to play against due to us being a relatively small side while most teams have a number of very tall often fast players. I'd love a big fast 6' 4" rangey striker, they create panic in defences without necessarily being the most skillful.

I for one never expected anything from tonight's game. Eastbourne yes, Kettering and Barrow yes but not there.

John Beck got Cambridge within a sniff of the old Div 1 with that style of play, it is very difficult to play against.

worryingly thats three times we have failed to score in the last five games despite the "improved" forward line-up. We've scored 7 goals in 7 games so far this season and 5 of those came in the 1st two matches.

Indeed although I f**kin wish I was wasn't.

I too will not post a knee jerk reaction.

It just makes me laugh that people talk about "getting rid" or the like.  You must know enough about the board to know that there is no chance of them ever "getting rid" and advertising in the Times for a vibrant young manager as someone mentioned.

Its only going to get messier I fear.

See you Saturday, full support as ever.
